Stanford University's Folding@Home Stats page ^ | 05-17-2006 | soccer_maniac

Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.

Our FreeRepublic team of 325+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).

Currently, the team is in 108th place (with 991 active CPUs - 34,150 completed Work Units and more than 6,000,000 points).

This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 16 folding threads)

Just keep the old, slow systems cranking away at 100% during the summer.

Without AC, they will eventually fry themselves and you'll be forced to replace them with new fast systems.

Seriesly, no one at the district will even notice the emergency purchase of ... a couple of hundred systems. After all, what is a few more bucks when it is fer the chillen?

Series.

You don't have to connected to the internet at all times. Just when WUs are downloaded and uploaded after completion.

I just installed new firewalls, so my production slowed down a bit until I could understand what was keeping the completed WUs from being uploaded to Stanford. I believe I solved the problem. It seems to be working okay now - I was afraid it was all over, since I don't have a whole lot of time to dedicate.

Also, I've been having some recent dll issues with running the upload script for Egon's site, hence my abundance of red dots. Those PCs will probably start to drop off, because I'm too busy right now to spend any time troubleshooting.

Many thanks to Klutz - we'll keep rolling until your return.

I am weak. There is a 3 day weekend coming up and Fry's always has killer deals on holidays. Must resist...Is there a 12 step program for folding addicts?

Hi soccer_maniac...

I came across one of your posts the other day and followed up by joining Folding@Home.

I installed it on both of my currently running machines and today I completed my first two work units.

It appears I've done it correctly, as I now show up in the Free Republic Folders Stats Page. (Team ID 36120)

Rank
(within team)...User......Score....WU

288...................EasySt.....517.......2

Thanks for pointing us to this worthy effort!

Please add me to your Folding@Home ping list?
