Have them run into each other, sounds pretty interesting.
Would be funny and somewhat odd to have them run across each other at someplace totally innocuous and odd for them to be at, like a shopping mall.
Or Staples office supply.

(Something evil and demonic, no doubt, especially if you want the vampires to be the relative "good guys.")

:Looks stern:

NNB are you a eatist? Just because their required form of nourishment is not universally accepted (and frankly rather gross) is no reason to condemn an entire race of intelligent beings as "evil".

I'm not exactly certain that a lich eats.
Not certain what it would eat.
Of course, soul and skull munching are kinda bad by themselves.

Well the soul munching anyway.

Long time ago I read a book where a vampire and a soul drinker teamed up to hunt as the vampire had no use for the soul and the soul drinker had no use for the blood.

Mmmmm leftovers....

Can't remember what the soul drinker was called but it was some kind of Japanese creature of myth.

or maybe reality?

" NNB are you a eatist?"

I blame my parents. If they hadn't fed me, I never would have developed the habit of eating.

Besides, I was calling the cabalists the bad guys. I wasn't condemning vampires. At least not at that time.

I suggested that the cabalists had a way of sucking up the life force of young ladies. They could also have a means of transferring their minds from an old body to a younger one. That will be up to Darks to decide. I'm presenting the challenge to him.

"I'm not exactly certain that a lich eats. Not certain what it would eat."

That's the idea! The cabalists would trade on that legend, striking fear among the common people, and eliciting only mocking contempt from the scientific community. Thus are they shielded for their dark intentions.

And no Kolchak available to deal with them.

Sounds familiar.
I likely ran across it at some point.
Probably won't think of it for awhile though.

Oh sure blame your poor parents. :)

Ya know why must a cabal be evil? Why not have a cabal that works for all that is good?

Yes, a lich would be an 'unknown' to deal with.
Perhaps they use vampires in some way to perform their heinous activities?

I got it. The vampire fetches the victim for the lich.

The lich drains the creative spark from people that is how it extends its life. After all, our creativity is what lives on after we are gone.

The vampire gets to suck the blood but not kill them.

Afterward the poor victim is released to wander the world filled with the knowledge that once it was capable of doing great things but now there is nothing there.

If you forgot who you were pretending to be, go take a nap, you're obviously under too much stress. Also, drink plenty of fluids.

I think the drinking of fluids caused the forgetfulness in the first place.

"Ya know why must a cabal be evil? Why not have a cabal that works for all that is good?"

Such a small word -- and yet the lexicographer waxes eloquent about it. Wax on, wax off.

cabal

cabal (ke-bàl´) noun
1. A conspiratorial group of plotters or intriguers: "Espionage is quite precisely it-a cabal of powerful men, working secretly" (Frank Conroy).
2. A secret scheme or plot. See Synonyms at conspiracy.

verb, intransitive
caballed, caballing, cabals
To form a cabal; conspire.
[French cabale, from Medieval Latin cabala. See cabala.]
Word History: The history of cabal reveals how a word can be transferred from one sphere of activity to another while retaining only a tenuous connection with its past.

Ultimately from Hebrew but transmitted to English probably by way of Medieval Latin and French, cabal is first recorded in English in 1616 in the sense "cabala." Cabala was the name for the Hebrew oral tradition transmitted by Moses and also the name for a Jewish religious philosophy based on an esoteric interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures.

The notion "esoteric" is central to the development of this word in English, for cabal, probably following the sense development in French, came to mean "a tradition, special interpretation, or secret," "a private intrigue" (first recorded in 1646-1647), and "a small body of intriguers" (first recorded in 1660).

It is probably not coincidental that cabal is found with these latter meanings during the mid-17th century, that time of plots and counterplots by Royalists and Parliamentarians. The word gained a false etymology when it was noticed that the five most influential ministers of Charles II were named Clifford, Arlington, Buckingham, Ashley, and Lauderdale.

You are possibly confusing cabal with kumbaya.

You are to be commended.

It was one of those shows that was almost painful to watch. I kept hoping it would get better but it got worse. Finally they put it out of our misery.

More and more, Channel Zero is my favorite.

And why not? My imagination can dish up better entertainment than I can find out there.

My problem is having a very slow upload speed.

Most interesting! But still why must a cabal be evil?

Granted it is generally viewed that way but only I think because if you are successful you are a member of the valiant underground and if you fail you are labeled a cabal.

If you want to be nitpicky the "Sons of Liberty" could fall under the definition of a cabal.
