CARTOONS & QUOTES: DEMOCRATS' HYPOCRISY

Posted on 09/24/2007 10:55:17 AM PDT by opineapple

Democrats are HYPOCRITES. Here's why: Democrats criticize Tom DeLay for taking overseas trips - but Democrats took over SIX HUNDRED more trips than Republicans... and the top five trip takers in order of most spent on trips from 2000-2004 were all Democrats! (americanradioworks.publicradio.org)

Democrat leaders accuse Tom DeLay of doing legislative favors for donors - but Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helped secure THREE MILLION DOLLARS last year for a group that donated to her campaign and sent her staff on trips to Europe! ("Pelosi helped donor to PAC," washingtontimes.com)

They criticize DeLay for hiring family members during his campaign, but Democrat Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has sponsored legislation that netted his family hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. In the last four years alone, firms with Reid family ties have collected more than $2 million in lobbying fees! ("Harry Reid Family Cashing In," newsmax.com)

So next time you hear some Democrat blowhard spouting off about those rich Republicans and how evil they are, just gently remind them that there is more than enough money to go around, and that Republicans are just being true to their beliefs. Remind them of all those rich "Limousine Liberals" who live in the lap of luxury and want to help the indigent using your money and show them that the Democrats are hypocrites.

Democrats are Hypocrites when it Comes to ENRON. Government records show that, during the Clinton years, Lay and other Enron executives got seats on at least four Energy Department trade missions and at least seven Commerce Department trade trips. In 1996, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, stocked with Clinton appointees, helped Enron with a series of orders that weakened the monopoly of nuclear and coal-burning utilities. In July of that year, Enron gave $100,000 to the Democratic Party.

Once you become a liberal, you can wax eloquent on the glories of the public schools while sending your kids to private school. You can wax prolix about the greedy rich while making a fortune on the side. You can even use the government to impose your values willy-nilly, from racial quotas and confiscatory tax rates to draconian environmental policies and sex-ed for grade-schoolers — all of which will paid for in part by people who disagree with you.

http://jewishworldreview.com

Liberals reveal their appalling hypocrisy when they proudly claim to oppose the influence of religion on politics, and then try to cite the Bible to argue against the death penalty.

http://michaelmedved.townhall.com/

The defining study has been done, and conservatives have clearly come out as the "winners." The scientific conclusion bears out what I've always said: Liberals are hypocrites.

The linchpin of the liberal public image as more virtuous and generous has been shattered. While parading themselves as more caring, they are now shown to be wearing imaginary robes of righteousness designed by and for emperors who are the only ones who can see them. Arthur C. Brooks of Syracuse University has written a book entitled "Who Really Cares: America's Charity Divide – Who Gives, Who Doesn't, and Why It Matters," and his conclusion (to his own amazement) is the opposite of what he expected: Liberals are significantly less liberal when it comes to sharing their time and money with charities. And when it comes to donating blood, their moral inferiority is downright shocking. Brooks concludes, "If liberals and moderates gave blood at the same rate as conservatives, the blood supply of the United States would jump about 45 percent." This gap between red-state and blue-state types is breathtaking.

In the middle of the catfight between US presidential contender Barack Obama and Australian Prime Minister John Howard, the "hypocrite" word has been bandied around. But we're kind of puzzled at the irony involved. Howard criticizes Obama for promising to pull troops out of Iraq. Obama fights back by inviting Australia to send more troops into Iraq... Err...does Obama want troops in, or out, of Iraq?

http://briefingroom.typepad.com

Last month, Barack Obama traveled to Detroit, Michigan to chastise auto industry officials for not producing as many hybrid vehicles as he’d like. In the Motor City, he praised Japanese hybrids for averaging 45 miles per gallon. Listeners were stunned when Obama criticized that Americans “were spending their time investing in bigger, faster cars” while “foreign competitors were investing in more fuel-efficient technology.” He said, “Whenever an attempt was made to raise our fuel efficiency standards, the auto companies lobbied furiously against it spending millions to prevent the very reform that could’ve saved their industry.”

The Detroit Free Press’s Mark Phelan reported that the Obama family auto isn’t a hybrid, though. Obama packs his wife and two daughters into a V8 Hemi-powered Chrysler 300C that gets about 25 miles per gallon. “Obama’s choice proves once again that fuel economy is seldom the No. 1 factor when Americans buy cars,” Phelan wrote.

As former Vice President Al Gore waits to hear if he has won this year's Nobel Peace Prize for his tireless effort on climate change, a new video will air this weekend capturing Gore on a fuel-guzzling private jet!

http://drudgereport.com

Sean Hannity reported on Fox News Channel's Hannity & Colmes, February 18, 2007, that when Al Gore was running his campaign: "On January 27th, 2000, Gore campaign in Concord and Manchester, New Hampshire, and on that very same day reimbursed the Thomas Lee Company $1,400 for the use of their corporate jet. That evening he left New Hampshire and flew back to Washington aboard Air Force Two, the vice president's official plane is a 757, which means that the flight from New Hampshire to Washington, well, the vice president emitted more than 22,000 pounds of CO2."

http://www.conservapedia.com

After the excruciating Al Gore lovefest the Oscars became this week it is too tempting not to sink the slipper into Tinseltown hypocrisy on climate change. The author of the book, the former Western Mining executive Ray Evans, the founder of the climate-sceptic Lavoisier Group, said that Gore, "with his private jet and his imperial lifestyle, reminds me of Elmer Gantry, the fictional American preacher of the 1950s who was vehemently against fornication and other sins of the flesh, but whose frailty in these matters matched the vigour of his preaching …

http://www.smh.com.au

It would seem that the Global Warming crowd would want to lead by example, but oh no, not this bunch. Al Gore jumps from point A to point B by use of private jets and ground transportation is usually provided by large gas guzzeling SUV’s, the very same ones that Gore, Pelosi and other Liberal Democrats want to eliminate from what would seem just the private sector. That’s you and me folks.

John Edwards charges $55,000 to speak to UC Davis students about poverty

http://www.sfgate.com

John Edwards Caught in Act of Hypocrisy -- Edwards has repeatedly bashed the subprime loan business as exploiting the poor. Now he says when he went to work for the hedge fund it was to learn about poverty and he didn't know the fund was involved in the subprime business. This is as laughable as the idea that a $400 haircut shows the poor you are on their side. Edwards has been caught in a major league act of presidential hopeful hypocrisy.

http://www.foxnews.com

Liberal hypocrisy, you ask?

Most liberal politicians ardently support proposals intended to save the environment. They fly around the country in private jets, urging Americans to give up their SUVs, drive hybrid cars, and leave a smaller carbon footprint. When it comes to reducing their own carbon footprints—well, that’s another story.

For years, the wealthy elite of Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod have lobbied hard against a proposed wind farm in Nantucket Sound. The proposed complex of 130 wind turbines, 400 feet high, would sit eight miles out in the Sound and be confined to 24 square miles. On a clear day, they would barely be visible from the island’s waterfront homes. The wind farm would generate enough energy to take care of most of the electrical needs of Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. And by replacing oil, it would greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Environmental groups like Greenpeace love the wind farm proposal.

But apparently, to paraphrase the late Leona Helmsley, only little people should sacrifice to save the environment. As for the rich and privileged—why, what’s the point of spending the summer in an ocean-front home if there is a chance they might glimpse a wind turbine in the distance? What a thing to ask!

That is why the elite of the islands have hired high-powered lobbyists to make the wind farm go away—or at least, into somebody else’s backyard. These people say they want to save the environment. But they also want their beautiful little enclave to stay just the way it has always been: a place where they can retreat from the world and contemplate great things—like how to prevent global warming.

http://www.christianpost.com

Looking for liberal hypocrisy is, as they say in the military, a target-rich environment. Noam Chomsky, for example, has attacked wealthy Americans who set up trusts to avoid paying inheritance taxes. But this self-professed "radical socialist" has a tax attorney and did the very same thing. (When I asked him about this hypocrisy he said it was okay because he and has family have been working on behalf of suffering people all these years.)

Michael Moore's hypocrisy is pathological. He has said numerous times that he doesn't own a single share of stock and that capitalism is not acceptable "on any level." And yet, I found that, according to tax returns filed with the IRS, he has owned shares in Halliburton, numerous oil companies, defense contractors and other multinationals through a tax shelter. When it comes he race he's also wildly hypocritical. He says that Americans who happen to live in largely white neighbhorhoods do so because they are "racists." But he lives in Central Lake, Michigan, which according to the U.S. Census has more than 2,500 residents and not a single black person in the entire town.

http://www.frontpagemag.com

The hypocrisy is that these same liberals never miss an opportunity to tell us that FDR was the greatest president of the 20th Century… since the Civil War… in our country’s history. Yet it was FDR who authorized the relocation camps for Japanese-Americans during World War II.

http://freebornamerican.townhall.com

The winner of the Hypocrite of the Year award goes to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.). Even though the year is far from over and is likely to have its fair share of hypocrisy, Mrs. Clinton's comment on the need to compromise to achieve political and social progress has to outclass any other current or future entrant. For Hillary to give a sermon on compromise in politics is a bit like the Ayatollah preaching religious tolerance.

http://www.h-ponline.com

On Wednesday, May 24th, we learned the meaning of the word "hypocrisy." The Senate voted 80-14 to approve funding for the next two months in Iraq without any restrictions or mandated withdrawal of troops. Thirty-eight Democrats voted to fund our troops, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). But three of the four Democrats who are running for president -- Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Barack Obama (D-Ill), and Chris Dodd (D-CT) -- all voted with eleven other Senators to deny funding to the war. The hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton in voting against funding is stunning.

Guess Who's Coming To Congress, starring Nancy Pelosi and William Jefferson. Watch as the icy, white millionaire from San Francisco, who's promised that the House will be the most ethical political body since the College of Cardinals, matches wits with that scalawag just re-elected in New Orleans, William Jefferson.

http://northcoastonline.typepad.com

Pelosi's Hypocrisy Exposed -- When Nancy Pelosi was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives, she promised to change things -- to enact serious, and long overdue, ethical reforms -- to stop the growing trend of legislators and their families accepting gifts, trips, and jobs from lobbyists and corporations. Well, some things never change.

http://archive.newsmax.com/

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi proclaims her support for unions; yet the luxury resort, vineyard and restaurants she partly owns are strictly non-union. And while she advocates tough new environmental laws for the private sector, the exclusive country club she partly owns has failed to comply with existing environmental laws, including those protecting endangered species, for the past 8 years.

A Double Standard of Hypocrisy: Feminism's Love Affair with President Clinton. Why have certain feminists refused to demand Bill Clinton's resignation? For in his sexual affair with Monica Lewinsky, he committed an act of "sexual harassment" that these feminists eagerly apply to other violators of it, whose resignation or termination from their jobs they demand.

http://www.capmag.com

The feminists, afraid of another conservative on the High Court, decided to go after Clarence Thomas' head for the high crime of being black and conservative. However, when Monica Lewinsky's name became connected to a dalliance with the President of the United States, the feminists were quick to remain silent on the issue.

That's rich, as in Marc Rich, the financier who fled the country to avoid prosecution for tax evasion, fraud and "trading with the enemy." On his last day in office, President Clinton pardoned Mr. Rich after his ex-wife, Denise (with whom Mr. Clinton reportedly had been sleeping) donated $1 million to the Democratic party and $10,000 to the Clintons' legal defense fund.

Few Democrats or journalists said those pardons sent "the clear signal" that in the Clinton administration "cronyism and ideology trump competence and justice." Few Democrats or journalists said anything about them at all. Hillary Clinton could get away with her blatant hypocrisy because she knew her fellow hypocrites wouldn't call her on it.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com

Hillary & Bill Clinton’s Hubris In Libby Pardon Hypocrisy -- Bill and Hillary Clinton got away with selling pardons directly to fugitive billionaire partners Marc Rich and Pincus Green, and to other assorted criminals through their relatives Roger Clinton and Tony and Hugh Rodham. Yet the media is allowing the Clinton’s to get away with attacking the current White House’s supposed lack of respect for the Rule of Law because of the commutation of a lengthy jail sentence for an administration aide for engaging in a lack of candor about political “speech”.

http://www.peterfpaul.com

When it comes to putting yourself “above the law” and “cronyism”, the Clintons clearly hold the record. Those who view that record will find it very difficult to “pardon” their bold and blatant hypocrisy.

http://www.humanevents.com

UNPARDONABLE HYPOCRISY -- White House press secretary Tony Snow didn't mince words last week: "I don't know what Arkansan is for 'chutzpah,' but this is a gigantic case of it," he said of criticism by both Bill and Hillary Clinton of President Bush's decision to commute I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby's prison sentence.

And that's putting it mildly. The Clintons aren't the only Democrats who've attacked the president for the Libby commutation. But they're surely the most hypocritical.

So true...if we were to document every instance of Democrat hipocrisy the forum would be slow as molasses from an information overload. Awesome job! And nice toons.

-- Hollywood’s most liberal hypocrites love to do public service commercials; giving great tips on how everyone else can be a better parent. Chevy Chase embraces the concept of a 13 year old being allowed to have an abortion without her parent’s permission. Yet, his latest public service commercial (3/25/06) suggests that you and I, the viewer pay more attention to ‘what movie was played in science class today.’ What movie is a 13 year old not mature enough to decide on watching or not watching? Why is she so incapable in class and oh-so capable in the abortion clinic? One more thing… to change the subject; does Chevy go to his child’s class or does he send one of his Nannies? Isn't that the worst thing you can do to your own child - having him/her raised by a stranger who may not even speak English and is paid to care for your child for pennies while you're jet-setting?

-- Robert F. Kennedy Jr. loves to go on talk shows (Hannity & Colmes ~ late 2005) and talk all about how bad it is for you and me to buy and/or drive an SUV. Yet, he travels around on a private jet. His issue with the SUV is the gas used and its alleged injury to the ‘ozone layer’ while he travels in a private jet that guzzles at a level no SUV can come close to.

-- The Kennedy family, you probably don’t know this, has many members who are due family money (due with age, maturity etc.). You probably also don’t know that this money is apparently in a foreign bank – avoiding estate taxes. I say ‘apparently’ because the family refuses to talk about this allegation. It would be so easy to simply deny it if it wasn’t true – right? Isn’t it ironic that the democrats, as the Kennedy’s all are, love to raise taxes and allege that the ‘rich’ get away with too much tax relief here in the US. Meanwhile this family full of ‘rich’ people and democrats protect their money by putting it in foreign banks. If this country is such a protector of the rich and their money, why do the Kennedy’s putting their money in foreign banks?

-- Senator Edward M. Kennedy has numerous references on his website about his claim of being pro environment. He's uttered this time and time again. He's spent federal money on chemical clean-ups because he's pro environment. He has members of his own family claiming they too are 'pro environment.' Well... they are until it comes to what imposes on them and their view from their multi-million dollar compound in Hyannisport. You see, the exceptionally overweight and rumored to be forever intoxicated Senator doesn't want to view those beautiful 'wind turbines,' never mind 130 of them - as is planned. (click here to view article written about this).

-- Michael Moore says nothing but bad things about oil and defense contractors; calling them ‘war profiteers.’ He also claims to have no stock portfolio, yet he owns shares in Halliburton, Honeywell and Boeing and does his postproduction work in Canada – where he doesn’t have to pay union wages like in the United States. I’m sure his movie was 100% true.

-- Jessie Jackson added former Chicago democratic congressman Mel Reynolds to the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll. Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clinton's last-minute forgiveness spree. Reynolds received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud & lies to the Federal Election Commission. He is more notorious; however, for concurrently serving five years for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer. This is a first in American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate, then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate. His new job? Youth counselor. It is important to note another difference between the Reynolds matter and the more recent Foley matter. Mr. Reynolds was never disavowed by his fellow Democrats - instead he was embraced for a great speech on the house floor (where he admitted to the lewd acts) and received three standing ovations. While on the other side of the aisle was no defending of Mr. Foley and instant, overwhelming disdain. Most importantly, there has still been no evidence found (as of Oct. '06) that Mr. Foley actually had any type of physical contact with under-age people while Mr. Reynolds did on numerous occasions - and, again, admitted to it!

-- Is it considered hypocritical when you're making millions upon millions to take your clothes off in a movie here in the US () - and then go to England and call Americans stupid and stuck-up? Well, not if you're Gwyneth Paltrow. She decided to spit on the American Flag with a verbal tirade (Dec. 06), saying (among other things): "The British are much more intelligent and civilised than the Americans. I love the English lifestyle. I'm not as capitalistic as America." It's just amazing how good the good'ol USA is when you need to make a million, but England is better once you've gotten your paycheck. So, go to England, Iraq, Dominican Republic or wherever the hell you want to go and stay there - you greedy, self-righteous son of a gun!!
