And so, it seems to me, she is vulnerable to one of the more common intellectual/emotional traps of our time, which is the yearning to believe in our own victimhood.

This is the author of the article speaking. Not Secretary Rice.

"The press is extremely hard on people with that temperament in politics. Condi just does not have the personality for running for office, and she knows it."

You are probably correct. I think she is one of the most brilliant women to ever serve the US government. But she does have a cool and almost prickly exterior. I have heard that she is a huge pro football fan and she sometimes aspires to become NFL Commissioner some day. I think we should let her go to pursue that dream. God bless Condi, and I wish her nothing but the best.

The only difference between Rice and Mad Maddy is so far Laptops in the State Department aren’t missing. Other than that policy wise they could pass for political twins.

I have heard Condi say countless times that she has NO interest in running for president, EVER. I think we should take her at her word.

As I said in #31, I’m not surprised you can’t see it. I and many other conservatives see it plainly, from what she’s said. You, a Rice loyalist, are blocking.

If that were the only negative, it might be overcome, but it isn’t. I’ve already mentioned a couple of the big negatives.

Enough said.

I stated right here, on Free Republic, when she was first nominated as Secretary of State that people would come to hate her. I think it comes with the job. Remember in 2000 the people that loved Colin Powell? Now he is not a favorite around here, to say the least.

Secretary of States number one job is to keep the peace. Hence she will take positions that we, here, hate.

I love Condi, and I would love to see a McCain/Rice ticket!!!

I don’t think we should elect American leaders based on their support of a foreign country. Let foreign countries take care of themselve.

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham Show this morning.

Tammy Bruce is guest hosting. She said McCain would not ask Condi because her personal life would not pass scrutiny.

Does anyone know what she means by that?

The problem is the State Department is ran by career beauracrats who are for the most part socialist democrats and generally baby boomers who grew up anti American during the Vietnam war.

People think that political appointees run the government but that is not the case. Its ran by the rank and file civil service, unionized bureaucrats who answer to no one.

Rice is a great person and I would love to have her as VP.

Oh my, I didn’t know that. Come to think of it, you never hear about her and a boyfriend.

That’s the only reason I suggest it, considering how attractive and smart she is.

I would still support her though although Mitt is probably the more prudent choice.

She is more than likely lesbian.

Which is always a plus with the Libs. Whether she is or is not matters not a bit to me.

The fact remains that she is damaged goods by virtue of being part of the Bush administration and will be seen as just that by most voters.

Interesting article. I still don’t see where she claims any “victim” mentality.

You won't see it because it isn't there. Her comments are 180° away from Obama's or those of any other Democrat race pimp.

Unfortunately, too many "conservatives" suffer from selective illiteracy; they see what they want to see.

Bad idea!

Reason #1- She would link McCain to the Bush administration making it easy for the Dem nominee to run against Bush.

Reason #2- She's crazy clueless on the topic she's supposed to know the most about- Russia. The Cold War is back and she just doesn't get it.
