“Ratt was a damn good band though.”
Toward the end the drug abuse took it’s toll. I saw them live in ‘88 with (shudder) Poison and Ratt was the headliner. Frankly 2/3 of the crowd split after about 10 minutes of Ratt.

http://www.metstoday.com/wp-content/jason-giambi-autograph.jpgFunny or scary.
Although that in that shot of Axl Rose, he looks more normal there than he did in his day, iirc.

oh, boy, is that gonna take some explaining.
Suffice it to say that I was looking for a picture of the hair of the band "autograph" but what really caught my attention was that which is found at the link that was residing in my clipboard cache.
I was going to post it on the Giambi "Golden Thong" thread but decided against it...

Yanno, Poison wasn't innovative, intricate, or exceptionally talented (they had average talent) but they can put on one hell of a show, TODAY, in 2008. While I tend to like the harder hair metal (like Ratt, Skid Row, Dokken, etc.) as well as Iron Maiden, etc...I do enjoy Poison and admit their concerts are great.
And speaking of bad 80s hair...I present, the one, the only, Poison, ca. 1987:

I used to think that C.C. was the best ever guitarist but once I grew up and listened to a lot of other less well known artists I realized that he was just really fun to watch.
For true talent, gimme Yngwie.

CC’s a decent guitarist, but doesn’t hold a candle to Yngwie, or Satriani, or George Lynch, or even Ratt’s Warren DeMartini.
CC can put on a show though. And he’s a self-admitted Republican so that adds a couple points.

Agreed. Duran Duran take a lot of heat, but their stuff still holds up after 25 years -- some of it was qute edgy and experimental. Another great band of that ilk -- Spandau Ballet. The horn arrangements alone are awesome, a la Chant no. 1 is proof.
What do you think of their new stuff? What I've heard of Red Carpet Massacre is pretty good.

For true talent, gimme Yngwie. Never was into his ingveyness.
However, to his credit, I read that he was asked why he started using the name "Yngwie J. Malmsteen," having by that time added the "J."
He answered that it was to distinguish himself from all the other Yngwie Malmsteens out there.

Well he must be a Repub because in that line of work you just do NOT admit to that sort of thing.

No internet. no cellphones. no cable TV until mid/late 80s. no gang warfare. No mexican invasion(in most of the country). A highschool flunkout could still make enough to support a family without government assistance. America was back on top of the world recovered from the vietnam era and the opec/gas crisis of the 70s. Reagan conquered communism. The 80s was a care free utopia in USA as is evident by the prevailing music and clothing style of the times. Silly innocent foofoo nonsense. Women were not anorexic or bulimic or silicon enhanced. They were natural(except for their silly hairdos and excessive makup). People had not a care in the world. I wish it could be the eighties again and forever.
At the time, I remember my dad telling me that the eighties was like the old 50s of his day. He even told me there was a brief period of the silly pastel and fluorescent colored clothes in the 50s just as was becoming popular in the 80s. Also, the flattop haircut was making a comeback. At the time, I thought he was nuts. But in hindsight, I realize he was more correct than even he maybe realized.

women should not be in rock bands. it's too macho.
Vicki is even better on video, however.
