No excerpt, but a bear got into an apple tree. The family's cow is named apple because she likes to eat apples from this tree. The bear and cow sniff each other then the cow chases the bear away! Just what I need, a guard cow!

Bears eat roots and tubers. By nature, they’ve built up an impressive physical stature with extraordinarly stout forelimbs, shoulders, and skulls. Beyond that, they are a bit of a rooter. Cats, dogs, and anything that might remotely be confused as predatory, or simply “in charge” might serve to give most run-of-the-mill bears pause. Then again, during rut, or some other period of annoyance, they might not. They’re not predictable creatures.

Pretty soon all the female bears will be getting inflatable fake cows to put in the passenger seat.

That cow looks like a Black Angus which have a reputation for being well able to look after themselves. Another cantankerous Scot !
