Wine Drinkers Balk at a Chilean Wine With Hints of Alaska

An organic wine from Chile has oenophiles in San Francisco turning up their noses. But theres nothing wrong with the wine. Its the name that bothers them:
Palin Syrah.
The wine from a boutique vineyard in Chile was once a strong seller, but now its an outcast in the City by the Bay because its name comes way too close to a certain governor from the state of Alaska, says Celine Guillou, co-owner of the Yield Wine Bar.
Palin Syrah pronounced Pay-LEEN takes its name from a ball used in a Chilean-style hockey game, and it has been on the bars wine list for a while. But sales have plummeted ever since John McCain named Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

Palin SyrahWell balanced wine with plenty of complexity. Clean and refreshing. Plenty of depth and up front fruit. Long pleasant finish. Goes well with food and is especially good at cutting through Obama slime and Biden grease. Not to be used liberally.

Probably cost a whole lot more too.

Where can I get a bottle or two or three of that? It will go perfectly with the crow pie I’m planning to serve my dembot family members at Thanksgiving!
(I’m serious!)

Already tried. Each wine seller is sold out - even at the case price.

Currency translation, rising pricesits too painful!
Then, the wine gods heard our cries and gave us Palin.
Expressive Syrah from northern Chile with red and blue fruit.
Enjoy on its own or with a burger.

They won’t ship to Georgia, which is too bad. I’ll try to get my local wine shop to order some in. Thanks for your help!

...were in San Francisco, so most of the people we have in Im going to suspect are fairly liberal. People like to joke about it, but for some people it evokes quite a visceral reaction, Guillou said. Interesting, I joke about liberals but am repulsed by them. This wine wasn't even named in jest or topically. And the Left got their panties in a wad over "FREEDOM" Fries as the French were taking payoffs from Saddam Hussein?!!

I’ve always said that, everything about symbolism is superficial.
So damn stupid.

This is a joke, right?Left wing fundamentalists are a humorless bunch. If I remember correctly the San Francisco Chronicle dropped Beetle Bailey from the comic pages several years ago due to reader complaints about it being set in the military.

They are a humorless bunch, aren’t they? I wonder if they would find this funny: I like Barack Obama cuz I can belch his name. Try it. It works!

Still, bet it sells better than the Bobbit Sausage Company's product after another unfortunate name link.
Thank you Mad Magazine.

That’s the one I tried. They won’t ship to GA. I’d be glad to buy a few bottles from you and pay the shipping, though, if you’re willing - just FReepmail. Thanks!

Palin Syrah. Catchy name. I've always been kind of fond of Chilean wines... maybe I'll have hubby pick up a couple bottles so we can enjoy them once this newest babe is born.
