I'm new here and hoping you can help me. I have a friend who told me that I should take McCain's speech last night to heart . . . that I should be positive, trust my country, and support our new president. Does this advice reflect true conservative values? What should I tell him?
You should tell him that if you’re trying to bait conservatives, FR may not be the place for you.
Tell him to Kiss your A$$. That you are mad as he11 and aren’t going to take this $hit for four years. That should cheer you both up!!! :-)
Tell your friend you thought about what he said and then vomited.
A true conservative believes in our Constitution. A true American (US Citizen) believes in the Constitution. A true person only takes an oath to preserve, protect and defend our Constitution if they mean it.
Refer to Article IV, Section 4 of our Constitution.
If you do not agree with it, you are not a true American.
IBTZ!
AdminModerator, I propose a rule by which newbies are not allowed vanity posting privileges for their first six months until they figure out that Free Republic isn’t a bulletin board or a yahoo email group.
Welcome to FReeRepublic?
I suspect your stay will be short.
Not many conservatives were voting for McCain. They were voting for Palin and were definitely voting against Zero.
Who cares what McCain thinks now? I’ll keep voting every day against Zero.
Tell him you will. The people have spoken. O is the Prez. And as far as what makes a conservative, if you are truly a newbie, that depends. I think I am a conservative. Some people here think I am a Commie.
Conservatism is basically common sense. A stong military is necessary. The right to bear arms is important as a check on gov’t power. Welfare is OK, if a person can’t make it, but it should not become a lifestyle.
Some conservatives are just greedmeisters and think anything that interferes with them and their money is wrong. Ignore them. They are deluded.
parsy, the misfit.
I posted something similar the first time I was on a libtard board.
As Conservatives, we ALWAYS support the foundation roles and offices established by the USC.
What we can NOT accept are those who inhabit those offices with the specific intent of undermining our Constitution and the explicit and implicit moral values that are the foundation of it.
The newly selected dilettante, who wishes to serve as fuhrer, is a great example. I will fight him until he is finally marched out of office. But, should he give a lawful order, I expect that order to be followed.
OI hope that helps
The back of yo momma’s neck looks like a package of hotdogs.
I don’t have a new president, I am a prisoner in a dictatorship that has just been taken over by a criminal cabal of vote-stealing marxists and the only thing I am taking to heart is the words of the Founders who discussed the irrigation needs of the Tree of Liberty.
What does McCain have to do with conservatism?
Is your friend named "Keith"?
Does his last name rhyme with "Dolbermann"?
A couple words and it’s not let’s dance.
You should listen to your friend Obama. After all, he chose you to be his Vice-President, and if McCain says that about a fellow liberal, you can take it to the bank that it's true.
Good answer!!
I would say the bold part is the correct one.
Wow. I came here today to learn and seek advice. I had no idea I would be slammed so hard for asking a question. You know, there are few places for me to learn how to defend my conservative values. I thought that this is where I could get help. I live in Maryland and have a lot of lib friends. It’s hard for me to talk to them to get them to understand my beliefs. Sorry I asked for help. I won’t do it again.
Thanks! That’s a great answer.
Sorry. I’m learning. I thought that Free Republic was a place for conservatives to learn and discuss values and news and such with other conservatives. I didn’t realize that this was a vanity post. I thought that it was OK for me to post a question that I was having trouble with.
I got fired up with the election and all and thought this would be a good place for me. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. Sorry.
The name is sort of tribute to my dad. He was a fisherman. “Caviar Bloke” was a joke that we had. Sorry that you thought it meant something else.
Look, people are very suspicious of newbies who show up the day after a big GOP defeat asking questions about conservatives. DailyKos types do it all the time. If you really are a conservative, then stick around for a while and let people get used to you - if you are sincere then I’ll be the first to apologize, and will be happy to discuss whatever you want.
Then again, I fully realize that I am not in charge, so I'm left to ridicule these folks early and often.
You’re welcome.
AND, don’t mind the grouches on this forum. They are angry over the loss and the reasons for the loss. You asked a valid question and you did it in mannerly style.
Enjoy the forum.
Look him in the eye and smile and tell him (or any liberal) "You ain't seen nothing yet".
