When deer hunting season starts Saturday in Hanover, whitetails will be in the hunters' sights, but two white deer named Snowflake and Snowball better not be. Deer culling is a top priority in the Morris County town because the animals destroy plants, carry ticks and cause car accidents, yet the 20 recreational bow hunters lined up for the task have been asked to spare two mostly white deer that have become favorites among township residents.

Is it *legal* to hunt deer with a machine gun in your state?

New Jersey law gives no special treatment to albino or piebald deer. Neither do hunters, said Anthony Mauro, chairman of the New Jersey

We had a couple living in the forest on my grandparents north woods farm back in the 30's-40's. We called them "Ghost Deer" - which is what the Indians called them.

My grampa was a Maine Guide. No one killed a ghost deer.

Now, in the area I live today, There's a big white buck that comes through my woods. The locals know he's here - but no one talks about him and no one would shoot him.

Just because there's an opportunity to grab - or kill - something, doesn't mean it's right.

Clear case of suicide by hanging if you ask me. The key is the granny knot in the rope.
