Debra Medina, Glen Beck and the Northwoods Truthers
The Futue of Freedom Foundation ^ | February 12, 2010 | Jacob G. Hornberger

Posted on 02/19/2010 6:42:37 AM PST by Robert Drobot

In an obvious ambush of Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina, Fox News commentator Glen Beck told Medina in a radio interview that he had received emails from listeners saying that she was a 9/11 truther, that is, a person who believes that the U.S. government was behind the 9/11 attacks.

Medina failed to specifically deny the charge, indicated that she didn’t have an opinion on the matter, stated that some good questions had been raised about the issue, and said that the American people had not seen all the evidence. Medina later issued a statement stating that she has never been involved in the 9/11 truth movement and affirming her conviction that the U.S. government was not behind the 9/11 attacks.

After the interview was over, Beck and his on-air cohorts began yucking it up, scratching off any prospects for Medina, who has recently soared from 4 percent in the polls to 24 percent, to win the race. “Wow!” Beck exclaimed, “The fastest way back to four percent. I think I can write her off the list.”

Beck’s mindset was precisely the type of mindset that I described in my September 17, 2009, article “Operation Northwoods and the 9/11 Truthers.” That article addressed the mindset of Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer regarding the 9/11 truthers, a mindset that is clearly the same as Beck’s.

Yeah, this “ambush” charge is the stupidest thing I’ve heard in a while. If she can’t answer a simple question like that without dissembling, she has no business being a governor. Medina is the one who showed her ass, not Beck.

He asked a freakin question and she couldn’t answer. In fact she couldn’t even answer when he asked “Tell me about yourself”.

True enough. I agree with you that Medina should be able to answer simple questions, or at least have the political acumen not to harpoon her campaign during a simple interview.

However, Beck has since been on some kind of tear, calling anyone who questions why Obama hasn't shown his BC "birthers," equating them with "truthers" then claiming that they're a "lunatic fringe" that "hates America." Last night he was lumping "birthers" with the guy who flew the plane into the Austin building.

Beck is morphing from a hard-working investigator (who regularly brought valuable info to the table) into a self-important douchebag who is under some delusion that everyone can't wait to hear his confused opinions on everything.

The author of the article seems to think that the US being behind the attacks is entirely plausible. No wonder he blames Beck. He’s a truther himself.

“Obvious ambush” my foot! Beck asked Medina the question in a way that was clearly designed for her to make a strong denial and put the matter to rest. It seemed clear to me that he considered the rumors to be false and wanted to give her a chance to clear the air. It was a batting practice, soft toss, for her to knock out of the park.

Instead, she chose to take the bat, and beat her campaign on the head repeatedly, and has continued to do so, with her idiotic comments suggesting the “truthers” have some good points.

The author states the following further down in the article ...

“There are several possible reactions to the claims made by the 9/11 truthers:

1. “I have reviewed the evidence and have not been convinced that the government was behind the attacks.”

2. “I have reviewed the evidence and am convinced that the government was behind the attacks.”

3. “I have not reviewed the evidence and, therefore, do not have an opinion on the subject.”

4. “I don’t care what the evidence is because it is inconceivable that the U.S. government would ever commit such a dastardly act, and anyone who doesn’t immediately denounce such a possibility is an unpatriotic whacko who hates America.”

From the interview with Medina it’s obvious which category Beck falls into: Number 4, the same category that Krauthammer falls into.”

He is missing an important fifth category ...

“Though I did not take the claims of “truthers” seriously from the outset, I have surveyed the ‘evidence’ enough to recognize its absurdity, and determined that it is inconcievable that the U.S. government committed THIS dastardly act. Thus, anyone that does not immediately denounce such a possilbility is entertaining anti-American propaganda, and giving aid and comfort to the real perpetrators of this act of war.”

I’d guess that Beck and Krauthammer, like me and most reasonable American patriots, actually fall into the 5th category ... not the 4th.

Yes he is, but that doesn't ameliorate the lunacy of Medina.

HIs simple question proved her to be a typical libertarian nutjob. Thank you Glenn for allowing Debra Medina to self-emolate and removing her from serious contention in the Texas government race.

Heard Mdina’s interview with Beck when he replayed it yesterday and he also played her interview with another host after his interview with her and she answered the questions opposite of the way she answered with Beck. Just from those two interviews summed it up for me. She speaks out of both sides of her mouth. She is a Scozzi BIGTIME! Wouldn’t trust her with my vote!

Perhaps. But Beck is just a guy on the radio, and he has an on/off switch. Elected officials don’t. Well, not until the end of their respective terms.

Please do youself a favor, and read Operation Northwoods. Then perhaps you'll better appreciate how the US being behind the attacks IS entirely plausible.

This idea that Beck (or anybody else) sabotaged Medina is absurd. If you can’t answer “did the govt have anything to do with the 9/11 attacks?” you're not be fit to run for dogcatcher.

For God's sake, has anybody really looked into her platform- her background? Has this woman even been vetted?

She wants legalized drugs.

She backs gay marriage.

.

She has not spoken to her elderly parents for YEARS. They had to find out she was runing for governor of Texas by reading the newspaper!

http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-politics/medina-hailing-from-beeville-learned-political-skills-on-229907.html?srcTrk=RTR_95609 What does this say about this woman's character? And rumors are begin to surface about husband Noe's past associations.

Take a look at some of the statements she has made: "It’s a shame isn’t it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?’

"Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?”

"Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.”

"I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.” (Obummer, is that you?)

I don't believe for one minute Medina's propaganda about wanting to strengthen the border!

La Raza probably has her in their back pocket!

Glenn Beck has once again helped the tea-party stay in the Republican mainstreamby by weeding out dangerous fringe thinkers like Medina.

Medina is NOT representative of the Tea Party movement. She USED them- latched herself on to them. She’s a hard core Libertarian who has realized that the Libertarian Party will never win anything and that the only possible way to get herself into office is to do what Ron Paul did and wrap herself in the Republican cloak in hopes that it will fool enough of the voters enough of the time. Thank God Glen Beck outed her in time.

Retrieve your sombrero from the ring and go home Senora Medina. You're Texas toast.

I was supporting Perry anyway, but kinda liked what she had to say about things up to that point. I don’t doubt that gubermint would pull off a terror attack to promote an agenda, especially with the POSPOTUS we have now, BUT that wasn’t the case then, and as was said, why promote a war with Afghanistan, and I’d find it exceptionally hard to believe that an attack of that magnitude would be planned by anyone in our government. I certainly wouldn’t put it past Zero to want to do something like that, since he is a muzzie himself, but he’d had a big problem with it because the number of people involved in an operation like that. Someone wouldn’t be able to keep their piehole shut, and that is another reason to discount any govt. involvement.

In an obvious ambush of Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina,

Medina wasn't ambushed. She's a big girl and could have avoided the controversy by immediately refuting the 9/11 government conspiracy.
