I am looking to try and regain the technology edge (at least the best I can do at this point). I know NOTHING about apps, G3, and the ilk. When i started in "cellular" (yes there was a word before wireless) it was ALMOST "two tin cans and a string". I was always on the "bleeding" edge of the technology for most of that time. Life and circumstances has me looking at this Boost product.
So I am about to pull the trigger on a Blackberry 83xx - 8330 (Boost to be precise). I am interested in your pros, cons, the best free apps, and the best (purchased) apps that you would suggest. Thank you for comments.
I have an 8330 and often get fustrated with the slow OS and numerous hard resets, battery pulls, however it still is a decent phone.
Blackberry needs to get their crap together or my next phone might be a droid. I refuse to buy an i-Phone and like my service provider, Verizon.
Thank you for your response. I am interested in the fact that this is the second reference to a “hard boot” and the battery.
Thanks...I’m hearing... rule out an E Bay impulse purchase before I buy one. I MUST admit as a recovered “geek” chaser this is hard....well OKAY not a “Recovered” tech chaser...Hello my name is “FLgoldwingguy” and I love the latest and greatest “toy” (that I can afford). Before I get “flamed” I give my FULLEST support to ANY twelve step program (including me) that anyone is working through. Thank you
You can get a BB 85XX for under $30 with a two year contract.
I have a BB 8320. Really like it. My previous phone was a Dash-10 and it was a piece of crap.
At Wal-Mart.
Good luck in your search. I would suggest searching for some of the user forums for whatever phone you are thinking about getting. Each one has it’s own quirks. One frustration I had was importing my contact list from my Blackberry to my droid. The Blackberry was stolen so I didn’t have the phone available to facilitate the transfer. I was able to export some of the contacts from the backup I had on my P.C., but had to edit every one of them a little after the transfer.

RIM needs to work on speed and stability. I like the apps and am not a fan of touch screens. My service provider, Verizon, is great. It’s sometimes like going from using your fast Windows XP computer to a much slower Windows 98 machine.
Excellent...thank you. Due to life, and some very bad choices, et al...I couldn’t afford to “finance steam off a hot dog”. So I am not sure that I could obtain the “Sell your soul for two years” and obtain a cheap buy on the hardware offering that you mentioned. My fellow Freeper, it’s a GREAT deal that you have such a fantastic offering...sadly some of us that were HIGH on spoke of “fortune’s wheel” (which I was) and are now climbing back from the lowest spoke on that same wheel). Ergo I am looking at a Boost product. BTW I AM interested in any comments that say “ stick with the two tin cans and a string” product.
One difference is that the Boost phones will ONLY operate on Sprint towers and will not roam on other providers' towers as real Sprint contract phones will.
Since you're going to pay $60/mo for Boost, it would be better to just pay $69/mo for a Sprint BB and have full coverage.
Thank you for the link..
Excellent..thank you. I presume that the amount you mentioned is related to a “contract” phone vs a “sleebe” (sp) prepaid phone?
Let me know when there is a 10 Meg camera, 100 gig MP3 player, a GPS and a decent phone in a single device.
There’s no place like home...There’s no place like home...*grin*
Yes, I was referring to a Sprint contract phone.
I have BlackBerry Storm & Verizon(no problems)
I check out FRee Republic all day with it.

Plus, I forgot to mention that you will pay around $250 for the Boost BB, and you get the same Sprint BB for free, with a 2yr agreement.
