Just a message for the Anti-Palin crowd

Posted on 04/21/2010 9:12:01 PM PDT by se_ohio_young_conservative

To those of you who go into every Sarah Palin thread with your anti-Palin talking points and repeating everything you hear on ABC, NBC or CBS.

I have a question for you personally. This is a personal question.

What are you doing to further our cause in a time of grave national and international crisis ?

Have you traveled to dozens of states in the last few months ? (Sarah Palin has)

also,

How is the view from the peanut gallery ?

and

How is the breakfast with your Democratic friends down at the local Holiday Inn ?

Please get a life. You are doing nothing to further our cause. Do some soul searching, it must seem like a worthless existance spending your time on the net attacking one person with such vigor and such venom. I hope for a big purge and I hope it is soon.

SArah has turned her back on the grass roots initiative. She has been compromised and brought under control by the party establishment.

I’m running for a US Congressional House seat, investing my time and money for love of constitution and the Republic. Not power and fame like main stream Republicans and Democrats.

Sarah now falls into the catagory of main stream Republicans and Democrats.

What have you done?

"Name a credible conservative alternative (Mitt doesn’t count)and we’ll debate after lunch."

I do not know about Bob, but I would prefer someone like Mike Pence or Jim DeMint. A conservative Governor would be an attractive choice as well. What I do not want is someone who supported the GOP spending spree under Bush, but now have started to join the opposition to big spending. Consistency in supporting the conservative cause is important to me and a willingness to oppose big government when it was being promoted by one's own party is a measure of consistency.

BTW - I've said it before, it is impossible for people to have a legitimate discussion on FR about Palin and her worthiness as a presidential candidate for these reasons;

1. Her supporters spin, manipulate and outright fabricate her history. When confronted with facts they change the subject or call people names. They will NEVER knowingly acknowledge the warts in her record and the inconsistency in things she says and does.

2. Some of her detractors are third party, single issue voters or “tear it all down so we can sit and groove on the rubble” types who are more interested in clouding the situation than coming to conclusions or gaining insight.

3. Jim has made it clear he is a big Palin supporter and that is the direction he wants the website to go. The resulting effect is to suppress discussion and mute opinions under the threat of retaliation. Unfortunately, Palin supporters have picked up on this and use it every chance they get to intimidate their opponents into silence.

Palin supporters want to frame this discussion as hatred for Palin and an attack on conservatism which of course it isn't. It is a discussion of Palin’s suitability as President. Nobody is questioning the good she can do for the movement as a spokesperson or her ability to “rally the troops” which IMO is self evident. But one can support and praise the overall work she does but still criticize specific actions like campaigning for McCain or whether or not she is the best person for or ready to sit in the oval office at this point in time.

I've also said it before that if Palin supporters want a real, adult discussion about Palin and her record, band together and ask Jim to hold off on the ban button. I would like to debate her merits and history because I have checked into it and while she has done some good things many of the bullet points her supporters tout are at best ambiguous and at worst misdirection and manipulation.

If people believe she is the answer to our problems then let's put it all out on the table so like adults we can decide for ourselves rather than be bullied into a choice based on rhetoric, bumper sticker slogans and half truths.

Since you are fairly new here, I will let you know that it is common courtesy to ping someone when you write about them in a comment. You could go ahead and do it now and point them to comment #44.

SarahPAC has not funded McCain

Then why did SarahPAC file reports with the FEC indicating that they were funding McCain's campaign?

Junior, I am flattered that you and the Ridgerunner deem my posts so interestingly put that you're compelled to pore over my posting history. Perhaps you two, could create a 'Greatest jla Posts" compilation and share it with the FR community.

Keep well, Jr. I just arrived at the airport in San Antonio and am awaiting my bag; then I'm off, to the 2010 FIESTA!.

Viva La Palin!

"I see little difference between Obama worshippers and Palin worshippers in terms of MO except one is on the left and one on the right. If our goal is to elect a Prez who will reverse this lurch to the left in America we need to do it with eyes wide open, acknowledging the shortcomings of the candidates and being able to see the potholes down the road."

BRAVO. Much wisdom here. You agree with George Washington when he warned in his farewell address against blind worship at the feet of politicians and parties....

"Let me warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally....

The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.

Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it."

Neither Mike Pence nor DeMint are running, so you're posting names that can't be debated.

It is because of the way she was attacked in 2008.

Let me reduce this to a simple fact. She was so grossly attacked and diminished in 2008. I think she deserves another chance. And she will get that chance.

I am just tired of logging onto Free Republic. This site is like a home to me. And seeing the same anti Palin propaganda I would see on the Huffington Post from folks like you.

Thanks. :) It's been fun, stressful, enlightening, checkbook wrecking, marriage straining, time-with-daughters depriving....and I deeply love my daughters...all four of them.

We lost a little boy last December, who was 14 months old, due to birth defects and subsequent surgeries. Obama’s healthcare garbage is the thing that really got us moving...so Joey didn't have to lie around dying in the future while government made us fill out forms in triplicate. All tallied up I'm sure Joey's medical bills wouldn't have balanced to what he could offer society so we feared our government would be more than happy to let him die via denial of care funding. In the end, the Lord took him mercifully, in his sleep, one morning right after Christmas. We GREATLY miss Joe. We still need to look after the future of our daughters...that is why the fight continues.

In the end, I don't want my kids looking back at my actions and asking, “Dad, why didn't you do something to save the Republic and bring us back to Constitutional government?”

But following the status quo, twisted power grabbing, politics-is-a-career politicians that naturally tend toward compromises to hold power...that is a recipe for the destruction of our Republic. It may already be too late. Too few are waking up too slow and getting out of the party rut. We have all been conditioned by history and the status quo...and it's not a good thing. Compromise by compromise, precedent by precedent...we drift further from Constitution no matter which party is in power.

Off of soap box....back to day job...

She was so grossly attacked and diminished in 2008.

And a large number of those attacks you refer to were originating from McCain folks or from McCain himself.

Yet far too many Palin supporters feel the need to defend her campaigning for a man that stabbed her in the back repeatedly.

Then let’s draft and run Dan Quayle.
