The Navy recently changed policy to allow women on submarines. What the hell has happened to our Military? Have they lost their political correctness minds? Has the Navy not learned their lesson with the numerous pregnancies, difficulties on board between the sexes, and the unwarranted sexual harassment claims? I even witnessed such wrongful claims while women were still on tenders in the 1980's. Sure it's much worse now.
Now DOD is going to put women on subs with narrow passageways where some innocent Sailor can brush up against a female?
Think about it. A male Sailor walking through a two foot wide passageway on an attack sub and accidently brushes up against a female Sailor, meaning no intent, gets hammered for sexual harassment.
This is just plain a** stupid. Even on a Trident, you can't help but touch other Sailors while moving around. And what about "hot-racking". What? The girls get their own compartment and head? As if a sub has that the much space.
What's next? Women in the SEALS? After all, they deserve the same opportunities as men. Right?
Okay, so if ANY woman can pass the strength, endurance, and combat training for SEALS, then she's welcomed aboard. Good luck with that.
I've personally watched those guys train while I was at Coronado Island awaiting my ship to pull in, and watched the biggest strongest most muscular men "ring the bell" to quit. "GI Jane, with Demi Moore" was a Hollywood fantasy.
Unless the woman is the largest bull d*ke female of all time, there is no possibility of her passing SEAL training, maybe BUDS, but not SEAL combat training. In fact, I doubt that any woman will make it through HELL WEEK...and that's just the start.
Many years ago, Israel found that women in combat roles didn't work. They reversed that military policy.
The world is upside down - again. Women on subs. Pfft. So much for our national defense. Wonder how long it will take for a sub to have to surface to unload a female Sailor? I'm betting a six months at most...

Are you homo? Hell, I’d want as many women possible on the sub with me. You act like this is a bad thing.
Each time females have been allowed in to one of these fields the standards have had to be lowered.

When I was in Somalia, the scuttlebutt was that there were some women who were unhappy about being in an African hellhole during the holidays and got impregnated on purpose to get out of there. Again, it was scuttlebutt so take it for what it’s worth. My guess is that submarines will now become one big skivyhouse...
It might work if it were an all women crew.

She will also be mentally unstable, thinking she’s just as qualified as a man to serve on a submarine. I wouldn’t want to cross paths with such a critter, much less be confined on a submarine with one!
I did a tour on an Adams class DDG years ago and that was incredibly cramped. I could not imagine trying to operate with a mixed male-female crew under those conditions. And at that I’m sure that even an SSBN is more cramped than that DDG was. I have no idea how they’re going to make this work.
Don’t kid yourself. There are female triathlete types who can get through BUD/S. That’s the wrong approach, to “challenge” women to make it. A few would make it, trust me. The question is more generally about long mission endurance by women other than the top top top .00001%. Once a few of those triathletes break the barrier, affirmative action will come in and the mission will suffer.
(I went through BUD/S class 105, “back when training was training” as they say.)

Shipmate, that has been the case ever since women were allowed on Navy supple ships back in my day in the late 1970's.
I do trust you, however, BUDS and latter SEAL combat training are different animals. You know about the combat training and the "search and destroy" training, which the women are not so good at. Big difference. I'm a simple aviation Sailor but have been stationed at Coronado, San Diego and watched those guys train and talked with the combat trainers. I've seen the largest most muscular capable men ring the bell.
Still, combat training, search and destroy, capture and interrogation, evasion and survival while on a clandestine mission is something I don't believe women have the fortitude for it.
Sorry, but I believe even THE biggest bull dyke could not pass the combat training of a US SEAL, unless requirements have been dumbed downed. Still, you would know better than me. But I doubt few if any women can work the problem. Tell me otherwise, and I will accept your word as fact.
Best to you, Trident Holder. You have my ultimate respect. Wearing that golden medal means you worked your ass off. I know, I've watched you guys for years. Youse guys are my heroes.
Wanna share a rack?...hahaha! Actually, I love my wife and I'm not sure she would be happy with me sharing a bunk with some old seal. She's probably say, "what? are you into marine mammals now?". Har! Just funning you guy. She knows Navy.
BTW, have you been watching the HBO series "The Pacific"? It's brutal and realistic according to all accounts from the old guys interviewed. The interesting (or sad) thing is that more Marines were sacrificed in the Soloman Islands than Guadalcanal and Imo Jimo together. Most people have never heard of Peleliu. An awful daily destruction and mangling of humans on a small island in the Soloman chain.
That said, the US interest was always about the push through Europe. I wear my Father's staff sergeant stripes on my biker vest for his fight in Belgium and France campaigns, not to mention his Division flanking Patton's 3rd Army in the Buldge. Take care...Shipmate. You've earned it.
I saw the first episode of “The Pacific” and as a result I got out the main book it’s based on, “Helmet for my Pillow.” One of the greatest war books ever, in every library collecting dust.
