The "little giant," a 1.93-meter tall human skeleton, was recently identified by experts at China's Archaeology Academy as the tallest prehistoric man ever found.

The "little giant," a 1.93-meter tall human skeleton, was recently discovered in China. Researcher Yang Yachang determined that the "little giant," which was discovered intact in an ancient cave dwelling in Guofenglou township, Shanxi province in 2006, to have been a 16 to 18 year-old male who lived about 4,200 years ago.

The purpose of the three holes drilled into the skull remain a mystery Through morphological study and skeletal measurements, Cheng Liang, a professor at the academy found the "little giant" to have Asian features, his bone structure similar to that of modern day humans in South Asia.

Researchers were confused as to why he had died so young until they discovered three drilled holes in his skull.

However the reason or purpose for the holes remains unknown.

Murder or malpractice? A very, very cold case indeed.

Are they saying life started in China…and not Africa?

I can guess that 1.93m is pretty big in china; everywhere else it’s a small where it counts; the Chinese finally admit SIZE DOES MATTER. Mao or someone like Kim-Jong-il will have written a rule to explain the deficiency.

Simple. His friends intended to use his skull as a bowling ball once bowling alleys were invented.

Holes drilled in skulls and even trepanation are not unheard of in ancient skeletal remains, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it in China. Either he had a great deal of pain in his cranium and this was an attempt to let it escape, or he was a very odd, angry or disturbed individual and this was intended to let the evil spirit(s) out.

The stature of this skeleton at a comparatively young age would appear to argue against being of any ethnic Chinese origin, and would seem to be more likely to be associated with the many, apparently European remains of large stature, many with red hair and buried with plaid fabrics. But, the claim is Asian features.

Modern Han Chinese are ethnocentric to the point of racism, so there is motivation to make a claim that is not necessarily so.

I read his biography.

He’s an incredibly decent fellow. Very unmoved by his wealth and celebrity.

Yao, IIRC. I DON’T RECALL HIS NONFAMILY NAME (IN CHINA THE FAMILY NAME IS FIRST—FIRST THINGS FIRST, YOU KNOW!).

I forget how tall he is. 7-8’ or some such.

He’s the first thing I thought of. Some of the northern Chinese get pretty big.

Agreed. Western China was caucasian land for most of history. Its a God forsaken land that suffered from disease and drought. History shows how many groups of Caucasians swept into Europe to escape the bad conditions.
Today the Chinese are actually destroying all evidence of Caucasian existence in China. Sad.

so this means the guy lived at about 2,000 BC.

The caucasians types discovered in western china were ‘the Mummies of Urumchi’. They had some sort of society in the Tarim basin. Probably were immigrants from around the southern urals, from a steppe culture.

One of the mummies was about 6’4”.

Different area, though. More West, toward Tibet.

I don't know if this skeleton has many 'Caucasian' features.
