I know a man here in TN that . . . won 13 million dollars. He still farms . . .

I asked my Dad once what he'd do if he ever won the lottery.

He said he'd probably keep farming 'till it was gone.

>>>>Was it Adam Smith that called lotteries a “tax on stupidity”?

>>SHHHHH! Lotteries are the government’s way of helping to ensure that poor people DO pay their fair share of tax.

Precisely. Here in GA, the lottery funds the Hope Scholarship, so those taxes pay for the higher education of all, including the middle and upper classes!

It sounds like you knew one of the other 3 winners of this same lottery.

After reading this thread, You know who springs to mind?
Michelle Antoinette! Only she has won the multi billion lottery, and was given the affirmative action lottery ticket free of charge.

She could start by cleaning the place!

LOL! I was thinking the same thing!

Just because you're poor doesn't mean you have to be filthy.

Hey Nick, have you checked the interest paid by banks lately? You can forget that. CD’s are horrible, the only thing that makes any sense is gold and silver.

Yes, so many of the American people are just so uninformed about so many things.

oh trust me, if you go to a bank to deposit 13 million, they will give you all sorts of stuff if you ask for it.

"My husband said it was evil money."

Definitely evil money. That's why they lost it. He dropped $75K in a single day gambling in Tampa. And $400,000 in a week gambling in Tahoe.

Yeah, it was because the money was evil. Stupid had nothing to do with it. /S

And chip those manicured hands?

ROTFL! Poor mouthing, yet she's got enough extra cash to get her nails done. Or who knows, maybe she splurged and had them done especially for the interview. But if that's the case, why didn't she do anything with her hair? ;o)

Depends on if you are using that scale as a gage of monetary income or lifestyle.I was using it to describe Henry’s lifestyle.

His life changed very little after his win of the lottery, he was already upper middle class and I can’t really tell that he has changed any at all except he goes fishing a little more than he used too. I talked to him recently and asked him if he was planning on retiring soon as he is in his sixties. He told me he was retired, he just had these chores that he had to do and cattle to feed.

BTW I do believe Henry was one of the four winners in the same lottery as this woman was.

I think she did get her hair done. She’s only 53. Her hair is dyed, IMO.

Straighten up the house didn’t make it on the list to get ready for interview. I don’t think she sees anything wrong w/it. Her priorities: nails, hair, top to show off her tattoos. Maybe even a facial. ;)

I have no idea how this woman got my mother's address...

People with nothing better to do sit and read obituaries in the paper, and then make their plans.

I don’t think I would tell ANYONE!
Not even family!
Someone will ALWAYS tell at least one other person.
Always!

This outcome is common in the NFL all the time.

Look at Mike Tyson, rags to riches and back to rags.

Money without the brains to spend and save wisely gets you nothing.

There was a group of meat packers in Nebraska (uneducated guys, including immigrants) who won $365MM in Powerball. They were savvy enough to get a lawyer and he set them up with financial guys all before cashing in their ticket. I suspect those guys will never have the kinds of problems this woman had.
