You've no doubt heard the commercial "What would you do for a Klondike Bar?". Well, Dairy Queen is asking you what would you do for a free Blizzard on Christmas Eve. The chain is offering the frozen treat Dec. 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., but there's a catch. To get the free Reindeer Bites Blizzard, you have to bring a real, living, breathing reindeer to participating Dairy Queen or DQ Grill & Chill restaurant. There are several locations across Connecticut.
"We've put out the call for fans to stop by with their reindeer to fuel up before the big night," said Michael Keller, American Dairy Queen Corporation chief brand officer. "We're sure Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and even Rudolph are going to want to get in on this deal." Jeremy Thompson, a manager at the DQ Grill and Chill on Shunpike Road in Cromwell says the store will be happy to honor the promotion if someone can bring a reindeer by the store Christmas Eve.
The question for Blizzard fans in Connecticut is where to find a reindeer? Your best bet may be Carl Bozenski's Christmas Village in Torrington. The spectacle is opened for the 63rd straight year, and has four live reindeer as an attraction. It might take a little convincing to get them to allow you to borrow the animals on Christmas Eve.
Oddly, the store in Anchorage is not playing along.
Isn’t this more likely to anger customers?
Not really - when it first opened, it was crazy busy - now that folks have had a chance to actually eat there, they almost never go back.
It is that bad.
The food at the Daily Queen in Corpus Christi Tx is the best fast food in town. It’s always crowded.
That’s where they get the little chocolate pieces for the Blizzard. ;^)
Oh yuk TE! I was thinking of making a fast bunch of choc chip cookies & watching tv. Now I don’t want to see the chips!
Oh, you’re so suggestible. Obviously the reindeer stop in Zurich and Santa fills the sleigh with fine chocolates.
They really think people are going to go to all this trouble for a crummy $3 blizzard???? That's crazy.
Would they actually know a reindeer when they saw one? Natick Mall (in Natick, MA) used to have a pen with tiny reindeer. I do recall the DQ in Attleboro, MA and yes, they had the worst food and their soft-serve ice cream was just library paste with sugar.
I guess its just like any other burger joint, it’s all the about the crew running the place.
THanks for the tip, next time I get down that way, I’ll check it out.
You’re welcome.
(I love their chili dogs and chicken baskets LOL)

I just missed the new foot long Sonic Chili dogs while in Tucson this summer. Bummed me out.
DQ Grill & Chill restaurant.
If I was a reindeer I would think this promo to be a trap.......
Well Santa doesn’t give me any fine chocolates.
