CHICAGO (Reuters) – A study of antibodies from people infected with H1N1 swine flu adds proof that scientists are closing in on a "universal" flu shot that could neutralize many types of flu strains, including H1N1 swine flu and H5N1 bird flu, U.S. researchers said on Monday.
They said people who were infected in the H1N1 pandemic developed an unusual immune response, making antibodies that could protect them from all the seasonal H1N1 flu strains from the last decade, the deadly "Spanish flu" strain from 1918 and even a strain of the H5N1 avian flu.
"It says that a universal influenza vaccine is really possible," said Patrick Wilson of the University of Chicago, who worked on the paper published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine.
Many teams are working on a "universal" flu shot that could protect people from all flu strains for decades or even life.
U.S. officials say an effective universal flu vaccine would have enormous ramifications for the control of influenza, which kills anywhere from 3,300 to 49,000 people in the United States each year.

They want it to happen. I don’t think it will. I’ve read of many cases of people getting sick after getting vaxed (and I assume taking the vax would have the same effect as getting infected, that’s the whole point), and getting sick with it twice.
I got it twice. The first time in January ‘09 (before it was in the news, turned out later it was on the west coast at that time), and second time in Oct. ‘09. Each time was nothing like any flu I’d ever had, and I hope I never get it again.
The previous director of the CDC (as I mentioned in my little summary I freepmailed you) left the CDC to become Merck’s head of their vax dept.
There is no reason to vaccinate millions of people for a disease that causes discomfort to many (and how many they have no idea) and death to between 800 1o 1200 a year, most of them older than 65.
OTOH, swine flu pandemic, or any flu pandemic, is a whole ‘nother thing. And since flu mutates so rapidly, I don’t see how they could ever come up with a vax in time for each new wave.
They want to make a universal flu vaccine. Time will tell if it will really work. Trusting post dated checks is not a productive practice.

I’m in my early 50’s and i don’t ever remember getting the flu and I’ve never had a flu shot. I better knock on wood — your experience sounds awful.

In my honest opinion, it won’t work. The reason these people developed such strong immunity is because it happened as nature intended. Not by a manufactured vaccine, but by the beauty of the human body’s natural defenses.
There are secret man made viruses infecting govt workers. Our secret research program was set up by a former Nazi scientist brought to the U.S. under Operation Paperclip. Many well-informed people believe that Lyme Disease was invented by this Nazi and released intentionally.
The bigger problem is with our bogus Homeland Security (ie U.S. Gestapo) and corrupt people in Congress taking HUGE $$$$ Campaign Bribes from military-industrial-educational-complex.
Our corrupt govt's top secret research facility on Plum Island is being moved to Kansas, right in the center of our food production heartland. And the facility is under the control of Homeland Security -- the same people run TSA and strip search little old ladies as "suspected terrorists:"

I have heard of many instances of getting the H1N1 twice which really made me wonder if this was propaganda of some sort to lull the populace.
