This matters to people?
I don’t mean the post, I mean one’s public score on some game?
Well, if it’s his only means of interaction then he gets to have twice as much interaction now since he will need to regain his standing in the tables.
This is one for the overly indulgent parent file.
It matters hugely to many people, not just kids.
As for cheating, it’s possible to do (entire websites devoted to cheats, cheat codes, getarounds, and so forth).
And I’ve seen really young kids use cheat codes and hacks, so at 11 he may know a lot about it.
One reason game companies crack down on cheating is because of goldfarmers, people who play online games to get online tokens like magic swords, increased powers, and so forth, that they sell in meatworld for real money. It sounds unbelievable, but there are those who will pay $200 for a supermage sword with over 9000 strength points, just to play an online game.
The article is completely devoid of any detail as to what exactly he’s accused of, but hammers home his disability and how bad he feels.
It’s not like Xbox would have just randomly picked him out of the millions of subscribers to investigate. People had to have reported him for cheating. There are a lot of details missing from this story.
He can count. His vocabulary has improved substantially and he can commute to and from work on the Metro. They can have rational conversations with him. He is polite.
When they started working with him he could not count; knew hardly any words; couldn't cross an open field; and certainly wasn't ever expected to work.
It really hurts to hear someone doubt that videogaming can be useful in improving life for autistic children. All I can say is you must lead a very sheltered life.
Now, about Bill Gates ~ just who does he imagine he is kicking around the handicapped.
Oh, that's right, he wants to leave it all to a foundation to kill babies.
If you have ever dealt with autistic kids, then you know that for some of them, it IS important.
They wouldn’t have done this unless he was cheating. There’s no guess work involved. All of the the hacks are online and known. His mom probably helped him download them.

And that’s about ALL he had been doing. I think it was World of Warcraft, though Second Life will do that to you as well.
When did I say games were not useful? For AB people and disabled they can be wonderful diversions and can even build some skills. Online games present a nonthreatening communications path to those who would otherwise find communications difficult.
Games, online or otherwise, can also become obsession traps, to AB people and those with OCD. Like anything else that are tools that cut both ways.
As for a sheltered life, no. I know a little about gaming, and I do get out offline once in a while.
Also, I said nothing about gates and his evil minions.
Could be sore losers who reported him.
That is what I was thinking, too. When you file and Xbox complaint against someone, as far as I know, you just click “file a complaint” and then one of the options is “cheating”- there is no option to describe the nature of the cheating.
But it’s not like someone makes a complaint and you are automatically labeled a cheater. Xbox actually has people who look into your account and see what you are doing.

To be fair, I have had FR sessions that have resulted in the same symptoms.
Absolutely. But there are more WoW zombies than FR zombies, just because it’s more popular.
And George really had not been out much at all, he’d go to work, come home, log in, eat raman, then go to work again.
