Magnetic Polar Shifts Causing Massive Global Superstorms
Salem-News.com ^ | 2-4-11 | Terrence Aym

NASA has been warning about it…scientific papers have been written about it…geologists have seen its traces in rock strata and ice core samples... Now "it" is here: an unstoppable magnetic pole shift that has sped up and is causing life-threatening havoc with the world's weather.

Forget about global warming—man-made or natural—what drives planetary weather patterns is the climate and what drives the climate is the sun's magnetosphere and its electromagnetic interaction with a planet's own magnetic field.

When the field shifts, when it fluctuates, when it goes into flux and begins to become unstable anything can happen. And what normally happens is that all hell breaks loose.

Question is, how are they gonna blame mankind for the magnetic shift? What, we all have to move to Africa or shift the weight of our bodies on the planet to the left? “all together now, everyone step left, 1, 2, 3...”

If the poles shift, there isn’t jack we can do about it. Kinda like the equilibrium of the Earths greenhouse effect.

FTA: A Danish study published in the scientific journal Geology, found strong correlation between climate change, weather patterns and the magnetic field. The earth's climate has been significantly affected by the planet's magnetic field, according to a Danish study published Monday that could challenge the notion that human emissions are responsible for global warming....

"Our results show a strong correlation between the strength of the earth's magnetic field and the amount of precipitation in the tropics," one of the two Danish geophysicists behind the study... told the Videnskab journal.

In the scientific paper "Midday magnetopause shifts earthward of geosynchronous orbit during geomagnetic superstorms..." the magnetic intensity of solar storms impacting Earth can intensify the effects of the polar shift and also speed up the frequency of the emerging superstorms.

Well, I just so happen to have a compass sitting right next to me and guess what, it’s pointing north and holding steady

My compass and I are calling BS!

Now algore, how do you get a human spin on this one.

Maybe too many northerners, not enough kiwi’s, so our power plants are emmiting too many free electrons, causing the poles to shift???

Does anyone watch Decoded?

Much of it is entertaining hogwash. I watch it as entertaining fiction.

Was looking around and I found this:

Ban Ki-moon ends hands-on involvement in climate change talks

****************************EXCERPT*******************

UN secretary general will redirect efforts to making more immediate gains in clean energy and sustainable development

Suzanne Goldenberg, US environment correspondent

Thursday 27 January 2011 15.17 GMT

Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations secretary general who made global warming his personal mission, is ending his hands-on involvement with international climate change negotiations, the Guardian has learned.

n a strategic shift, Ban will redirect his efforts from trying to encourage movement in the international climate change negotiations to a broader agenda of promoting clean energy and sustainable development, senior UN officials said.

The officials said the change in focus reflected Ban's realisation, after his deep involvement with the failed Copenhagen summit in 2009, that world leaders are not prepared to come together in a sweeping agreement on global warming – at least not for the next few years.

"It is very evident that there will not be a single grand deal at any point in the near future," said Robert Orr, UN assistant secretary general for strategic planning and a key adviser to Ban.

The view from UN headquarters will likely dismay developing countries who fought hard at Copenhagen and last year's summit at Cancún for countries to renew their commitments to the Kyoto protocol in just that type of grand deal.

"...Pole reversal may also be initiating new Ice Age..."

A new Ice Age? Hmph. I don't think so...

Nothing to worry about then. Sun is mostly asleep.

Seems like bunk to me, I read the article but I can’t /couldn’t see the connection between a major snowstorm and magnetic field. Solar storm, yeah.

From various shows that I've seen and based on the 'experts' spoken to, it seems that major solar storms are in our future. The last one I heard said that he didn't think a major solar storm would end civilization, though it could cause major disruptions. He and others seem to think asteroid impact is a distinct possibility and earthquake.

The interesting thing is that a show that aired a week or so back discussing magnitude 10 earthquakes, thought a 10 unlikely. What was interesting was that they thought a major quake hitting the Missouri area was likely and that it would split the US at the Mississippi. History channel's Megaquake 10.

Now, the Decoded show from last night, touched on other things. They showed a map of the US to explain why the 'monument' was built in Georgia and the map showed a big split at the Mississippi running up the same path as the New Madrid fault.

It seems if I recall correctly that in years past that I have read of some connection between solar storms and earthquakes. How accurate, I don't know. Just found it interesting. Supposedly the solar storms are cyclic and we are entering a high point 2012/2013, which just happens to coincide with the Maya prophecies of December 21, 2012.

Just makes for some interesting things.

It's a fact that the magnetic field is shifting East at 35-40 miles per year, up from just 9 miles/year since 1904. Whether or not it's causing superstorms hasn't been proven scientifically. The Salem-News article presents one theory. Another article in the Daily Mail says the shift is just a minor inconvenience.

Excerpt: Changes in our planet's core are causing the north magnetic pole to speed towards Russia at nearly 40 miles a year. But the affects of the magnetic shift are being felt over 3,500 miles south of the Arctic - at Tampa International Airport. The Sunshine State hub has been forced to shut down its primary runway until next week so that numeric designators at the end of runways and taxiway signage can be altered to account for the magnetic pole's movement....

The movement of the Earth's north magnetic pole towards Siberia are caused by rapid changes in the magnetism of the planet's core. The latest changes are the most dramatic in a century - the pole had been begun moving to the northeast at about 9 miles per year in 1904 but since 2007 has been racing towards Siberia by at least 35 miles each year.

It’s already been proven that magnetic North is constantly changing. Your compass will still point to North, its the local that changes.

And I’ve been believing that it is the geographic poles (I.e., the positions of the two ends of the axis of rotation) that were a determining factor in the locus of the polar cold regions, not the magnetic pole. So much stuff one has to unlearn??!!

“My compass and I are calling BS!”

It is a fact, see post 32. I say it is a posibility. It might also be the cause for the recent surge in Earthquakes around the Pacific basin. In fact in the Earths history the polarity of the poles have switched. I have always wondered what that would do. Would it also change the ocean currents?

I think the AGW crowd will jump on something like this to explain why the Earth is cooling down...which it is...

Multiple threads on that fact...

I posted this one today:
