When we’re dealing with gay activists with a homosexual agenda I think it’s unwise to consider it a non-issue.
I don’t know why people are gay, nor to I particularly care.
But I do know that their agenda is not one of live and let live, and I do care that they have no qualms about using intimidation tactics or the force of government to silence individuals.
Even GOProud, an allegedly conservative group of gay activists, has employed the tactic of leveling vicious verbal attacks against those who will not acknowledge and embrace their private, sexual behavior as normal, natural and healthy.
Again, I’m talking about the activist community and I do so because they’re the ones with the political clout driving the agenda.
Please reconsider whether or not it is a non-issue to conservatism because their agenda WILL have an impact on your ability to speak, associate and worship freely.
Homosexuals may only be a small percentage of the population but it seems they’ve managed to convince a much greater percentage that how they have sex and who they have it with are civil rights issues.

She has a point. Nothing the anti-gay FReepers can say will make homosexuals go away, nor even make them LESS a part of society and media. I’d rather have them voting conservative than Democrat, wouldn’t you? If you say no, it must mean you hate the person, and not the act. Think about it.
The ACU’s (and thus CPAC’s) roots in gay conservatism dates all the way back to its formation. People (aka sinners) like Robert Bauman were among its founders, if I remember correctly.
Gays have been involved in conservatism longer than FR has existed and no matter what anyone says or does they will REMAIN involved in conservatism. Posts on here telling them to “go vote Democrat” are preposterous.
The Great Ann Coulter is a stalwart of conservatism and even if I conceded she is wrong about gays, so what? She is RIGHT about SO MUCH that it hardly registers that she likes gays or thinks that a RINO like Chris Christie should be the candidate. Just the first 4 chapters of Treason alone give her all the pass she needs to be wrong now and then.
As for the gay thing specifically, she did say she was tired of all the identity caterwauling and I took that to mean on BOTH sides.
And I would add that if we are going to begin carving away possible voters on OUR side for their behaviorial issues where would we stop?? I prefer small cars. You have a big SUV. Get OUT of my political party!
In the end, in 2012, this will be about VOTES—who has them and who doesn’t. Conservatives don’t have the luxury of telling other conservatives to go away. And it’s not as if we are talking about a gay candidate for president. We’re talking about gay voters (actually, conference attendees!).

I have gay friends, Yaelle. I’m not prejudiced. I just don’t like the political agenda. That doesn’t make me a bigot. I will never support anything that smacks of “recruitment.”
The gay agenda erupted in a small school in New England the year after we left the area. My kid’s friends were suddenly conflicted. They were taught to experiment to find out what they prefer.
They are not content to just be gay. They try to recruit vulnerable young people via the education system, try to force their agenda down everyone’s throats. That is recruitment.

I believe there is a case for sexual orientation being genetic. Behavior is another matter, and I'm not making excuses for anyone else's behavior, nor am I suggesting that those who abuse animals or children should get a pass because it is genetic. On the contrary, I think a fitting form of behavior modification for a pedophile would be a one way trip to an incinerator.
Sexuality is a behavior. It is NOT the same as eye color, hair color or skin color.
Homosexuality is a dysfunctional sexual behavior the same as pedophilia. Do you REALLY want to make excuses for sexual behavior? Do you want to say that pedophiles can't control their attraction to children because it's hardwired like their eye color? That is exactly where this is heading.
