OK, so I gave in and downloaded it to a test machine (not this one for testing).
Seems to be MUCH faster. Not sure I like the layout. Kinda wish they had allowed us to fit the version 4 code into the version 3.x gui...
Comments? Tricks? Anybody find any nuggets here?
Faster and easier to use than prior version. Only down side I’ve seen is that it doesn’t integrate well with Roboform. Will probably have to upgrade the latter to make it work with the former.
I like having the “clear cache” tab right on the tool menu. Also, haven’t played with the “pop up blocker” yet, but lately, seems more and more web sites have figured a way to bypass the pop-up blocker addons that were available, so let’s hope it works.
You can make it look more like 3.x by moving the tabs to the bottom of the header. Took me a bit to figure out how, but you can almost make it look like 3.x.
It does seem way faster.
I've rebooted and tried everything but it ONLY misbehaves on FR. Figures....
Also, right mouse button on the left and right arrows will allow you to see the last 10 pages you visited. Took me a minute to figure that one out as well.
Can I import my Favorites from IE into it?
Should be able to. It asked me when I installed it about importing stuff.
I’ll have to give it a try. I stopped using FF3 because it was so slow. It just seemed bloated. Feature creep maybe.
is this a beta?
My Firefox did not give notification of a new one
I still have 3.6.16
This one is like Turbo faster. They musta redone the rendering agent code.
another question
is this for windows?
I haven’t had my laptop w/Vista turned on for a few days
But I might be speaking prematurely, because as the cache fills up, it might slow down to a crawl... hope not!
I can’t imagine they would release a browser that wasn’t compatible with Vista.
I at least have the luxury of multiple (5+) machines and OS’s (5+) to test things, so if I don’t like it, I dump it.
Yep! I down loaded it and imported my Favorite Bookmarks from IE into it. Now I would like to have them open and be able to stick them to the left side of my screen like I can in IE. I won’t like it if I can not do that! Need some help doing it - anyone know if it can be done?
Anything that runs under Vista is slow....
I have Win 7 running on an ATOM processor 10” Acer Notebook and FF 4is great...only drawback is that Fbook seems to hang once in a while. I used the Beta for several weeks and finally uninstalled V3.
I agree about the speed. And I spent the 20 bucks to upgrade Roboform. Well worth it for a terrific program.
my primary computer (which I use for graphic/video work) is an iMac & I love Firefox on it. Safari is their “choice”.
My notebook is a HP & I really like it but due to virus etc concerns dont get too adventurous on it. When I travel I go to FAcebook, email, weather, FR & another site only. Dont click “cutsie links”
MY nephew does web site development for Firefox. (go to the website.. if you dont like it, it is Jason’s fault)
He lives in Portland(yes sorry lib kid) and works from home in his jammies even though base is San Fran.
Is Firefox 4 one half as good as Exploder 8?
Exploder?
Was that an intentional gaffe?
Well, 4 is half of 8, so I guess so...
;-)
