AUGUSTA, Ga. – Charl Schwartzel has won the Masters by two strokes over Adam Scott and Jason Day after a wild final day at Augusta National.

The 26-year-old South African closed with four straight birdies, making a 20-footer at the final hole to wrap up a 6-under 66. He finished 14-under 274, enough to deny Australia its first green jacket.

Congrats to the man. I thought that Tiger would walk away with it for a while - it was some kind of ride towards the end.

Four straight birdies on the last four holes! Very exciting. He made no mistakes getting to the green, and then he NAILED some long and difficult putts.

And in recognition of his exciting victory, I, Charlie Henrickson, announce that we are hereby awarding Charl Schwartzel an honorary "-ie" and inducting him into the venerable LEAGUE OF CHARLIES, of which I am the chairman.

(Oh, needless to say, we have expelled that dishonorable Sheen fellow.)

I was impressed with that Jason Day kid. Too bad for Rory McIlroy, though, who completely fell apart.

I was kinda pulling for one of the older guys, Angel Cabrera from Argentina, who looks like a guy you'd like to sit around and have a beer with.

But Schwartzel made quite a charge, and I was cheering for him and saying "Wow!" after those long putts.

I was hurtin’ for Rory as I’m sure a lot of people were. But, this was as good a finish as I can remember. Today’s back nine did Bobby Jones proud.

It's doubtful that anyone will EVER fall apart the way that Greg Norman did fifteen years ago.

It was quite exciting. When the pack is bunched, a guy who birdies 15, 16, 17, and 18 usually wins.

I was most impressed by Adam Scott’s up-and-down from the wrong-hole bunker on 17. Didn’t help, as it turned out.

Good tourney - this kid was steady as a rock down the stretch. Laddie and Ernie Els say we will be hearing a lot from him.

For such a young kid in such a prestigous tournament, playing as well as he was up till the final round, that is gonna leave a major mental scar......

I’d have preferred seeing Tiger take the tournament. Go America! But Charles’ magnificent playing carried the day. Great tourment, great to watch, and it made my day.
