Fantastic idea IMO. Never travelled in first class, but if I did I think I would preffer not listening to a screaming baby.

How about airlines having special family flights, so they can keep all the screaming seat-kickers on a plane to themselves

Can you imagine the outrage if an American airline announced this? The Asians tend to be more sensible about this kind of thing. Stick the little buggers in the cargo hold, I say.

With a bottle, of course.

I don’t see any problem with this. Babies and young children on a plane are often a nuisance, and there’s not much that can be done about it, even with the best of intentions. Personally, I make every effort not to fly with babies; the last time was 2003, and he was only a moderate pain.

Passengers who are willing to pay extra to get away from children should be able to.

how about stop making airline travel a "business" expense?...how about taking away the tax deduction?....then those "important" people up front wouldn't be flying around all high and mighy....

while we're at it, TAX any frequent flyer miles that a business allows its business men to use..... its income, plain and simple...and it should be taxed like income...

BABIES are OUR future.....and I'd much rather listen and look at them then listen to, smell, and feel the farts, coughs, sneezes, throat clearing, nose blowing, loud banter of many adult passengers....

Put the little screamers in a large wooden box (with air holes). When they turn 18, plug the holes.

BABIES are OUR future.....

Yep...and in the future, when they're all grown up, I won't have a problem with them sitting in Business Class.

But for now, they sometimes scream for seven or eight hours of a fourteen-hour flight and that's just annoying.

Not sure at all about the tax exemptions businesses get for flying first class, but what I want for a long travel is peace. Between sitting next to any famous left winger and a screaming baby, I'll take a a famous left winger. Babies are our future, but that doesn't mean I should have to put up with someone else’s screaming brat.

This is not about having babies...its about babies on airplanes.

As for your class envy fol-duh-rah:

how about stop making airline travel a "business" expense?...how about taking away the tax deduction?....then those "important" people up front wouldn't be flying around all high and mighy....
while we're at it, TAX any frequent flyer miles that a business allows its business men to use..... its income, plain and simple...and it should be taxed like income...

I think you can file this in s nice comfy place where the sun doesn't shine.
But thats just my personal opinion.

I'll be the one waving to Ya in Bidness Class...as you amble back to steerage...Buh-bye!

I wouldn’t mind having that lounge in my living room, but on a plane, I’m so doped with Dramamine that I wouldn’t notice an entire flock of Imams sacrificing goats in the aisle, much less a crying baby.

A crying baby is not a brat, but a helpless being experiencing misery through no fault of his own. Many plane trips with infants could be avoided, and for those that are necessary (such as family moves across the ocean ;-), exclusion from first class is reasonable. The family of an unhappy baby is going to have a ghastly flight no matter where they sit, so they might as well get the cheap seats.
