Workers at Maryland's Prince George's Hospital Center have adopted a mythical creature as their new mascot.
The creature has been spotted in the woods where smokers take breaks since the hospital banned smoking June 1st, but no one knows what the animal is, so they've named it Prince Chupa, after the chupacabras - the legendary cryptid rumored to exist in parts of the Americas and suck the blood of livestock.
"It's a kangaroo, dog, rat mixed," X-ray technician Joe Livermore said. "It's got a rat tail and a head like a deer. I don't know what it is."
People started taking cell phone pictures of the animal and showing them around, but no one knows what it is. "So we decided to trap it," Livermore said.
On Thursday, Livermore lured the animal with chicken and leftover Chinese food and caged it briefly to get a closer look.
"I didn't know what to do with him," Livermore said. "I didn't know what it was. People said it was a fox, a deer, a dog."
After some close-ups, the animal was released. Those pictures haven't led to a confirmation of species yet, either.
Those who've been around Prince Chupa said it's shy, not aggressive and suspect there might be more than one.
“After some close-ups, the animal was released.”
Looks like some poor mutt suffering from advanced mange.
fox w/ mange
the mange shows open sores on tail & hard spot on legs with no hair. this is what massive flea infestation does prior to mites entering under the skin
PG county MD it must be an illegal from Mexico or south only here to pick lettuce so please LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!
Definitely a canine with mange. Poor thing. Mange is very uncomfortable for dogs.
Not even close.
I’ve done quite a bit of hunting in the past and often see coyotes and foxes now. That’s not a fox, coyote or dog. The legs, ears, and especially, the eyes are wrong. Looks like some kind of rodent, but the eyes are wrong for that, too.
Fox wiith mange, probably got it off a squirrel prey.
I don’t know about mites, but something has caused some
What this town needs is a chupacabra ping list.
Is that the girl from “Modern Family”?
We love her, she’s so sweet and sexy.
The first freeze in the Fall should take care of it.
It’s a fox with sarcoptic mange, which is very unpleasant. Poor animal ought to be put to sleep.
It’s a fox. I live not too far from there. We have a big problem with sarcoptic mange here in Maryland, and the mites live in woodland areas or fields where foxes hunt. There are a lot of foxes close to suburbia now. We had a few sarcoptic mange cases among the foxes at the stable where I ride, and yes, they look just like this.
Jeez. Poor animal must be absolutely miserable.
You could have been on the news if you grabbed one and cried, “chupacabra!”
Yup. Sofia Vergara. Mmmmmm.
But, in reality, she's Columbian....not Brazilian. But why split hairs?
Saw this on NBC4.
It’s a sickly fox who has lost its hair.
