Herman Cain hits back at Morgan Freeman for calling Tea Party 'racist'

Herman Cain is hitting back at Morgan Freeman for calling the Tea Party racist.

The Republican presidential candidate called the Oscar-winning actor’s eyebrow-raising remarks “short-sighted” on Friday. "Most of the people that are criticizing the Tea Partiers about having a racist element, they have never been to a Tea Party," Cain told Fox News.

Freeman, who endorsed Obama in 2007, created a firestorm when he told CNN’s Piers Morgan earlier this week that conservative opposition to the President has enflamed racism in America. He added the Tea Partiers have the mentality of "Screw the country, we're going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here…It is a racist thing."

Despite the criticism, Cain said he wasn’t offended by Freeman’s comments. "Name calling is something that is going to continue in this because they don’t know how to stop this movement and this movement is making a big difference in politics," said Cain, the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza.

At a GOP presidential debate on Thursday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said - if he could - he would pair Cain with ex-House Speaker Newt Gingrich to form his ideal running mate.

Cain was flattered.

"I’ve even seen some of the phrases that I used in the first debate being used in some of the later debates," said Cain. "I’m ok with that; imitation is the best form of flattery."

But Cain trails behind several of the other presidential hopefuls. He stands in fifth place, with 7% support, according to the latest Rasmuseen Reports survey of likely GOP primary voters. Ahead of him are Perry, with 28% support, Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, with 24%, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 9%, and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann at 8%.

Hey morgan, just keep molesting your granddaughter and leave the deep thinking to those who are capable of it.

Something I didn't know or more likely have forgotten about in my dotage. Got a link?

Seeing as how Cain has his degree in Math, advanced degree in Computer Science, worked as a Mathmetician for the Navy, and ran incredible (turnaround) business numbers...

He would wipe the floor with Obama on economics ALONE. It would be amazing to see.

Cain’s calculations defeated Hillarycare. Numbers don’t lie.

That is NOT Liberal thinking, and I agree 100%!
He is not my candidate.. but he is #2 for me..
If my candidate doesn’t join up, I will either write in or vote for Cain.

Never mind, I just saw the links in the very next reply. I have step grand daughters, I have known since their births, adults now, I cannot imaging how he could do it.

I love Cain. If you throw out the “two man race” meme...he has done better in the debates than either of the two men.

It’s hard to see this when Romney/Perry are asnwering all the questions.

I think he will jump up in the polls a little as the week goes by next week and more data comes in after the last debate.

He may pull ahead of the 2nd tier candidates.

The left plays the race card when they know they cannot win the argument on the issues. They’re afraid now they can’t even convince their own.

The Congressional Black Caucus last week, now Morgan Freeman. I think they sense the black vote slipping away....

The Tea Party ousted many a white congress critter in 2010, and elected Tim Scott and Col. West. The liberal house of cards is falling.

Mark Levin is the most consistent conservative voice of reason when it comes to the primary process. He flatly refuses to count anyone out this early in the process and belligerently rejects the horse race conventional wisdom. While Levin states unequivocally that he will vote for whomever wins the nomination, he thinks Iowa and New Hampshire shouldn't be allowed to determine our front-runners, much less our nominees.

As far as Cain and Freeman, I'm sick and tired of the race card and am thrilled that someone like Cain is publicly defending the Tea Party. As a southern white male, after decades of being accused of something I am NOT, it's nice to hear black conservatives telling the truth.

Even if he doesn’t win, he’s having an effect on the dialogue, he’s forcing issues. We need that!!

Another Ping today - I will also post the results of the straw poll on this thread so stay tuned!

From Herman’s Facebook just a few minutes ago:

“The results from the Presidency 5 Florida Straw Poll will be released later on this afternoon, but I have been very encouraged by what I have seen already today: I was honored with 10 standing ovations during my speech and Sen. Santorum, who spoke immediately after me, told the audience that whoever put him following Herman Cain is no longer with his campaign.”

Morgan Fredman ( America is bad ) I feel the concern from the early days of how our AA citizens were mistreated. No way around that. America is worked hard to rebuild that wrong. Nothing is 100% perfect in an open society.

Gosh, lost respect for this great actor. Of all of the white voters voted for Obama and now they are suddendly racists. No, Morgan, there’s no jobs/ higher taxes/less liberties/people are angry about that. Hello. What a terrible way to end his career.

Impromptu Poll : Who here would REFUSE to vote for Cain if he were to become the nominee?

I anticipate the sound of crickets will be my reply. And I suspect that is true the nation over. We need only put the MSM message, and the committee elites spending money on that message, behind us to discover it is so.

Hello, Cain is 5th among those listed in this article, but not 5th in the Rasmussen poll. Friday, September 23, 2011

Romney 39%,

Perry 18%

Paul 13%

Huntsman 7%

Bachman 5%

Gingrich 4%

Cain 4%

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_presidential_election/new_hampshire/election_2012_new_hampshire_republican_primary

According to that poll, Cain is tied for 6th place with Gingrich

Anyone have a more recent poll where Cain is 5th?
