Well....if there is a splinter from some o that exotic fret work on the Gibson....the guy will be in a heap of trouble with the Environazis.
They should string him up.
If you're buying a guitar for self-defense, I'd suggest an older Gibson Les Paul. Twelve-pounders are common and ones tipping the scales at slightly over thirteen pounds have been reported.
Those eight-and-half pound ash body Fender Stratocasters are for wimps. And don't get me started on the alder body Strats. May as well carry a ukulele.
I’ve got a Gibson SG, Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Telecaster. I’m going to go to the Tele for home defense. The bolt on neck of the Tele is more apt to stay in place after your initial whack to the intruder thus offering you additional opportunities to inflict more damage. The set neck Les Paul would more than likely not offer you a second chance as the body of the guitar would more than likely separate from the neck. My $.02
HAHA!
Thanks...but don’t be bringing my boy Willis Alan Ramsey into this...blame the Capt & Tenille, k?
I bet once crowned the defender could hear the intruders soundhole...
Nice place for a show, I grew up in Yorktown...

The necks can break on a Les Paul, or any set neck guitar. A Fender Tele is the ultimate guitar weapon. Maple neck (bolt-on) Swamp ash. Speed could make up for mass. Townsend preferred Gibbys because he couldn’t break Fenders. Les Paul for tone, but Telecaster for skull cracking, IMO
Pete Townsend “kabonged” Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock when he grabbed the microphone and screamed “Free Rubin Sinclair”.
The proper term for smashing your guitar according to Townsend is “Lunching”.
Great album. I especially liked “Tight Spots”. Ahhhh...memories.
You are our REAL El Kabong! Ya gotta read this article and the replies! LOL!
You owe me a monitor and keyboard.
I apologize. I like the way you think and would be honored to served under you come the Zombie Apocalypse.
If you'll accept my service, I'll be packing a natural American Deluxe Tele (but in northern Ash, not Swamp Ash).
I get a tear in my eye when I think about all these years that Ed Roman's been complaining about how easily the necks on Les Pauls and SGs break - he was only trying to make American a safer place. Doing it "for the children."
I'm also thinking back to that recent appearance of The Who at a Superbowl halftime, when Townsend showed up playing a Cherry Red Strat. My first thought was "how many millions did Fender play him to play a Strat instead of his iconic Les Pauls and SGs?" He was probably worried that fans would charge the stage. (Not poking fun at you at all, just enjoying bending all of these guitar visions to meet the standard of them as weapons.)
It has been reported that it was Jerry Garcia’s favorite east-coast venue for the Grateful Dead.
I’m not sure about that, but I know that 3 of my personal top-five favorite Dead shows were at Hampton.
