1978 - 2011 Killed in Indy Car race at Las Vegas
Amen.
Oh my lord, RIP
R.I.P.
Prayers for Dan and his family. R.I.P.
sad...
I am so sad.
I can’t believe they still race these cars on these types of tracks. In 1998 @ the Charlotte Motor Speedway there was a bad accident that killed people in the stands. Bruton Smith owns both tracks.
Do you remember Greg Moore’s accident. Ovals are dangerous.

Wheldon dies from Vegas crash
Open wheeled racing on high banked ovals would give me the willies. I was channel surfing and stopped to watch this on ABC and it looked to me insanely fast and close for my taste. I am not surprised at this accident. RIP Dan Wheldon. Prayers for all involved.
Dan Wheldon was a two-time Indy 500 winner and the 2005 IndyCar Series champion.

James Taylor- Our Town -LYRICS- (In memory of Paul Newman)
I know there were a number of people questioning putting 34 IndyCars on that track, and this is why.
As a fan and participant (mostly as a volunteer worker) in auto racing, I understand the sport is dangerous, but in this instance the IICS was tempting fate.
R.I.P., Dan. You will be missed.
