Good morning gardeners. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. My day was nice, quiet and lazy. Mrs. RD had to go to work at one pm and did not get off until two this morning, so we will be having our Thanksgiving feast this afternoon. We are having a roasted Turkey breast with the typical side dishes. We usually have a Ham but Mrs. RD wanted Turkey this year so Turkey it is.

It is forecast to be in the low 70s today so I may get out and gather up some leaves for the compost and some pine needles for mulching.

I bought it from a local garden store/nursery in 40 or 50 pound bags. Wife read a story about this stuff in her master gardener magazine and we were surprised to find it locally...

Good afternoon. It is another glorious day in Missouri. Shirt sleeve weather and beautiful sunshine. I got in my morning walk early before breakfast.

It was a great feast yesterday, all the usual plus everyone brought 1 new dish to try. Every space on my kitchen counters and buffet were full. My granny would have said we have enough food to feed Cox’s army. I have no idea who Cox is. LOL.

Probably going to bag a few leaves outdoors, and plant some more pots of herbs and spinach for indoor garden. Not doing the Black Friday shopping. No money, and I don’t like crazy crowds.LOL.

Winter wheat is finally under snow cover.

Chickens are up to 5-7 eggs/day.

Venison has been harvested, processed and frozen.

Ready for garden catalogs.

It is a beautiful day here in Meridian, Mississippi also! Pocket T-Shirt weather - 70F, sunny with a very slight breeze. Very nice.

Life is good. We have much to be thankful for. We are in the 60’s today. Down to 52 degrees tonight, and then back to the 40’s and 30’s for the next 5 days.

I love it when Thanksgiving has that Indian Summer type weather! Sometimes in Missouri, we have snow at Thanksgiving. Never a dull moment here with respect to the wheather. LOL.

I have to ask my sister (the only one left) if we still have relatives on our Mother’s side living in the Meridian area. Gorgeous sunny weather here in Benderville also and I should be out cleaning up the from perennial garden but this day is part of the holiday so I toured our Old Town area and took a few photos to post on another forum. Looking forward to left overs for dinner which I think tastes better than the original...

I am watching the LSU Arkansas game. Ark is chipping away at LSU. Have a feeling LSU will prevail.

Yep! LSU has a very good team. I just have a huge grudge against them that has been in place for many years!

I know what you mean. I went to the University of Florida so we played LSU often.

It just started snowing like crazy. visibility is only about 20 yards.

The only gardening I have going on is inside, now. The tomatoes I planted are a mixed success, One is reaching for the sky, it’s taller than I am already. One is about 2 feet tall and bushy. One decided it didn’t like this idea and died after I was sure it was rooting fine. The last one is alive, but it hasn’t changed at all from when I planted it. That’s a little wierd.

We’re still eating the tomatoes i picked green before the freeze. They’ve been ripening slowly in a bowl. And my squash and pumpkins are keeping nicely just sitting on the counter. I love how they do that.

Still working toward getting my house built.

I have a Meyer lemon tree planted in a large pot that I bring in, Northern Indiana, on the south porch in the winter. This is it's second year on the porch and it is sporting ONE LEMON which is turning yellow.

Does anyone know when to pick them?? Also some leaves are turning yellow, should I fertilize??

The lime tree did not set any fruit this year.

I’ve read that iron chelate(?) might help with the yellowing leaves. I’m sure the internet might be more helpful, I might be mis-remembering.

I usually pick my Meyer Lemons when they’re all the way yellow. I’ve had them keep on my counter for up to a month. But we keep our house really cool in the winter.

It is 24F and blowing snow right now. I am thinking of growing a few tomatoes indoors this winter.
