Police say a man tried to break into the King County Jail Sunday, and was subsequently booked into the jail for criminal trespass.
Staff at the jail noticed the man climb over a fence into a secure area of the facility in the 500 block of 5th Ave. He then made several attempts to open a locked door.
"Officers did ask him and he offered absolutely no explanation as to why he was attempting to break into the jail," said Detective Renee Witt with the Seattle Police Department, whose officers were called to the scene. "They didn't have to drive him or transport him anywhere because he was already at the jail."
Witt said the man told police he was aware he was on jail property.
He forgot his toothbrush.
Thanks matt1234.
Imagine, it’s against the law to try to break into the jail...
Probably a homeless guy who never had it so good as he had it in jail. Free TV, all the facilities, exercise yard. . . .
I guess you could call this a successful breaking and entering. He got into where he was trying to go.
As good an example as you’ll ever find of “the media is the message”. Man breaks INTO jail, not OUT of jail, and gets arrested. It boggles the mind.
It was turkeyburger night!
