Report: Warren Sapp files for bankruptcy, has lost Super Bowl ring

Former Bucs defensive lineman Warren Sapp has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Florida on claims he has racked up millions in debt, TMZ.com reported Friday.

One of the most surprising claims in Sapp's filing is that lost his 2002 Super Bowl ring from the championship with the Bucs and his 1991 national championship ring from the University of Miami, TMZ reported.

The future Hall of Famer owes more than $6.7 million to various creditors, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in child support payments to at least four women, the celebrity news website reported.

He owes $853,000 to the IRS for 2006 and $89,000 for 2010, it said.

Sapp said he also owes $2,858 in medical bills for "corrective speech and language therapy."

The debts outweigh Sapp's $6.45 million in assets, TMZ reported. The assets will be liquidated as a result of his bankruptcy filing.

Sapp, 39, works for the NFL Network as an analyst after playing in the league for 13 seasons with the Bucs, who drafted him 12th overall in 1995, and the Raiders (2004-07).

He said his current salary with the network is $540,000 per season, but his deal expires in August and he is unsure if the network will extend it, TMZ reported.

In the documents, Sapp lists all his assets, which TMZ reported include:

• 240 pairs of Jordan sneakers and sandals

• Large nude women painting

• Lion skin rug (female lioness)

• Nike golf clubs

• De Grisogono watch (scratch on crystal, nicks and scratches on band)

• Boxing glove signed by Muhammad Ali

It was not clear where Sapp, who went to Apopka High in Central Florida, filed for bankruptcy.

Liberal logic says that now Mr. Lambert will have to take care of Sapp’s arrogant ass.

I can imagine what Jack would say about that. It wouldn’t be...uh...favorable.

I have always dislike Sapp. Now my feeling are confirmed. What kind idiot makes that money and continues to make good bank as a commentator can be this much of a loser.

It was not clear where Sapp, who went to Apopka High in Central Florida, filed for bankruptcy.

And it would probably cost less than $1.00 for them to find out.

Are these the aforementioned large artists formerly in his "employ"?

And one worthless MegaMillions ticket from the big drawing a week ago.

Nice to know that my lifetime of work has left me with more in the bank than this washed-up loser. Not that he's ever heard of banks. During the summer he'll probably be joining the Occutards.

Nope, the IRS gets its piece of the action, first, and sometimes (depending on how much is left) only.

He owes $853,000 to the IRS for 2006 and $89,000 for 2010, it said.

Sapp, 39, works for the NFL Network as an analyst after playing in the league for 13 seasons with the Bucs, who drafted him 12th overall in 1995, and the Raiders (2004-07).

So since he now makes approx $500K a year working for the networks it’s reasonable to assume that he pays $89K a year for that salary. (Less than 20% tax burden despite being nominally one of the one percent).

Since he owes $853K for 2006 (while he was playing ball) it’s probably likely that he was making on the order of 5 million a year at that time.

In a nutshell, he took a 90% pay cut from $5 million to $500K. Which sounds bad. But on the other hand, he’s currently making a salary that most people will never see. Undoubtedly he’s spending at $500K the same way that he spent when he was making the 5 mill (and obviously wasn’t saving much). And the cash just ain’t flowing - surprise.

What a maroon.

IIRC Sapp was the guy who blindsided Chad Clifton hard enough to do internal injuries and put Clifton in the Hospital for four months. The hit was ruled legal but the rub was Sapp was not remorseful at all that he injured someone so badly and would not apologize. He acted the same way when he facemasked Jerry Rice and did him a serious knee injury. Sapp is a thug!

Hey Warren I hope you are enjoying your ride on the "Karma-Go-Round"... couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

His debts are accurate, but the value of his assets is probably greatly overstated, and I suspect, mostly very illiquid..

My question is: Is it a "large painting of nude women", or a "painting of large nude women"?

Or is it a painting of large women painting in the nude?
