Take a trip down memory lane and see what Freepers were posting back on this day in 1999. You might be surprised by the headlines from 13 years ago. Bush was locking up the Republican nomination, and we had high hopes that he would defeat Al Gore in a landslide. I was not yet a Grandfather of 6, and my now 16 1/2 year old dog, Hershee, was a spry 3 year old inn her prime. What were you doing on July 4th 1999 at 9:30 PM? The links are broken due to the lawsuit Jim settled with the MSM over copyright protection,m but you at least get a blurb for an idea about the article.

An interesting trek down memory lane. What jumps out at you about these headlines?

I would like to think that the more things change, the more they stay the same sometimes, but who would have guessed back then that we would have a black Muslim Communist as president, and a SC that would sell our children's future down the toilet?

I was doing missile drills on USS Wyoming (SSBN-742).

Hey, why can’t I access the articles?

In Jim’s copyright lawsuit settlement with the MSM, he agreed to delete all files. So all that remains is what I posted.

That’s why we can only post blurbs or even only headlines at times now depending upon the source.

We used to post the whole article, but that was challenged in court and FR settled.

Oh, thanks.

There is an article about it on Wikipedia.

I was flight testing Tomahawk missiles, reading FR in my spare time, Helping my youngest with his struggles as a Freshman in HS, listening to Rush on AM radio in my office and praying we didn’t get Algore for POTUS.

* * * ASH ALERT* * *

Stand Watch Listen aka The "Newashman" aka ASH aka ReduxAsh aka at least five other screen names is a hoaxer who has been banned from posting to this forum. Not once, but many times. He will be banned again soon.

HE WILL, WHEN CHALLENGED, PRETEND INNOCENCE. His use of multiple aliases is, itself a hoax. He is an electronic crasher who is here AGAINST THE EXPRESS WISHES OF THE OWNER OF THIS FORUM.

Attempting to engage him in debate plays into his hands. He is here to create dissent and to disrupt the Free Republic. That is his pattern and the reason his posting privileges have been banned.

Please DO NOT respond in any way to him.

He is 26 years old, has graduated from College and is working on F-22’s at Langley AFB, VA for Lockeed Martin. He is still single and spends his spare time in D.C. or at Virginia Beach. My oldest son is married, has a beautiful daughter and is living in Tucson, AZ. I raised them right. Neither one of them like RATS.

Good job. I wish I could say the same. My youngest daughter is die hard Republican and hates liberals, my eldest daughter used to dislike liberals, then she told me she voted for Obama.

I was so upset that it took almost a year before we talked again. She’s a great mother and a good wife to her husband, but she got all caught up with a bunch of leftists she works with in Austin TX.

She is still upset with me for my rant about her vote so we don’t talk much. She will come around, I pray she will anyway.

I'm not a big fan of this.

Submarines have very limited space. Two heads. Limited shower space. Limited bunk space, including hot bunking for 40 percent or more of the crew. No privacy at all.

There will inevitably be harassment and pregnancy issues.

You do not want to compromise elite fighting units

I was on USS Dubuque (LPD-8) in Sasebo, Japan getting ready for the crew swap at the end of the month with USS Juneau (LPD-10). Wouldn’t hear of FR for another 2 years, after 9/11.
