There is only one reason that I can think of, Romney is a RINO. If we had 4 more years of Obama, maybe this country would be ready to elect a real conservative.

Defeating him even now is in deep doubt because of the entitlement empire he's built. Four years from now, with 150 million (vs. 100M now) on some kind of government aid, 50% more using EBT cards, 10 million newly naturalized illegals, nearly everyone on bended knee to Obamacare and many living the "Julia" life, it'll be long past surmountable.
The make or break point is now.. not four years from now. This country wouldn't have enough conservatives to ever wrench power away from the dems at that point.
You think if Romney loses the GOP-e will take that lesson to heart and nominate a conservative in 2016? I have to say, you’re more of an optimist than I am.
If that came to pass, the conservatives in 2015, 2016 would be treated even worse than they were this cycle and - without question - we’d be given some milquetoast go along to get along RINO because “he’s the only one who can win”.

We’ll always get milquetoast RINOs because thats who the Republicans running the message want. Short of taking control of that messge, it’ll take an enormous groundswell of a near-perfect candidate to break that hold the GOP-e has on the candidate selection process.
