Conservatives should accept that there are gay people living quietly without pushing for any gay agenda. Some of them might be even religious and conservative themselves, and live next door. Saying that all gays must hold same view and behaviors basically accepts liberal mindset that everyone belonging to a social group would think and behave the same.

No queers are socially conservative or religiously conservative by definition.

To say any are “conservative” is to ignore those very important aspects.

Exactly. I know gay people. Contrary to some of the posts on FR, not every gay person is a pedophile looking to rape a young boy. Many, many, many gay people want to simply live their lives and are not interested in gay rights or hate crimes laws and the ones I know don’t really even care about gay marriage. The gay people I know are responsible adults who want to work and keep their money and live in a free, stable country. They are much more concerned about living in a Socialist Hellhole than Obama’s gay marriage promises.

>>There are just some things we shouldn’t do.<<

Much better to turn the reigns over to a person who kills babies — and then turns the killers over to killers when the 1st one failed.

When and how did Romney turn boys over to homosexuals? Did he become Catholic?

Do you really want to start with me? Cause, I can go all night if you want.

The only thing I can control is my own vote, and my vote is not going to a man who wants homosexual BOY Scout Leaders.

Well, in MA he used to bring them into his office and assure them he was there for them, he would do whatever they asked, etc. He still supports abandoning kids to sodomite “parents”, and allowing them into the Scouts. So this is no surprise, really.

How do you feel about having a homosexual president? If one were to run, I mean.

They are much more concerned about living in a Socialist Hellhole than Obama’s gay marriage promises.

My gay neighbors fit into this category. One, a retired couple, have been together for 42 years and arranged their affairs in such a way that marriage is not an issue to them. Power of attorney, wills, death directives and joint ownerships protect their interests. If our country continues on it's present path no one, straight or gay, are going to be concerned about the sexual identity of someone else.

I also doubt that this issue would even come up once the disintegration of our nation is full blown as a result of this path we're on. Survival will be the issue and little else will matter.

"How do you feel about having a homosexual president?"

You mean like the one currently occupying the White Hut? Not so well.

I guess the strangest detour this thread has taken is away from looking at some particular policy, that some people think there is a single orthodox definition of Conservatism, and it is theirs, and everyone else is not a Conservative.

If they reprsent a majority of Conservatives, then no wonder so many Conservatives do not do well with making alliances with other Conservatives, compete against each other in elections, split their ranks and leave their most common foe the ability to win on a mere plurality.

At one point social Conservatives gave up that aproach, built a base in the GOP, allied with others in the GOP and won many victories, even as they accepted all was not perfect.

What happened?

You know, I don’t mind if Conservatives are gay and like Romney. I just wish they wouldn’t be so vocal about it, and embarass the rest of us. Can’t they just go like Romney in the privacy of their own homes and spare us the details?

“What happened?”

We learned from experience that our allies were only using us to advance their agendas, and had no interest in a quid pro quo to help advance our agendas. Instead, the RINOs counted our votes as in the bag and got accustomed to backstabbing Conservatives at every opportunity.

If I were feeling cynical, I’d say they probably planned all along to simply contain the Conservative movement and control it, thinking they could eventually pander their way into getting enough moderate, latino, or whatever votes to replace ours.

Another thing to consider is simply the nature of moderates. They try to find a middle ground between the major opposing views, so as the left drifted further left, the moderates also naturally drifted left to maintain a balance. So, while the moderates in our party were still fairly conservative on social issues 30 years ago, now the gulf between us has widened. For example, it’s not as if the Conservatives suddenly oppose gay marriage, creating a divide, it’s that the moderates suddenly support it.

I have no problem with any support we can get to fight the socialist leviathan, gay or straight. We are going down economically and militarily and if we lose it all, any other debate we have on anything and every thing else is moot. Deep down inside, I know I get into trouble saying this since I tend to be libertarian, I've learned people are going to do what they are going to do, but I don't care who sleeps with whom as long as both side consent, at or above the age of consent and they keep it private. Let me add one more thing, if they screw up, hold them responsible and accountable for anything that goes wrong (or even right). I have my own life to worry about.

To me, no matter who you are and what you do, you should keep what you earn, at least with very low taxes to support Constitutional functions of government and equal access to the opportunities (not outcome) we have here.
