A California judge has thrown out a lawsuit filed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) seeking to stop California dairy farmers from running TV ads touting how happy, healthy and well-cared for dairy herds are.
PETA, which filed the lawsuit in 2011, had argued that the California Milk Advisory Board and the California Department of Food and Agriculture had violated state rules that bar misleading or inaccurate marketing with the Happy Cows ads.
The animal rights group had demanded that California dairy farmers prove that California cows are happy cows, as the milk board claimed in the ads. According to court documents, PETA had specifically complained that most California dairy cows are subjected to physical and psychological pain and stress caused by intense and uncomfortable dairying practices, have a high risk of suffering from a number of diseases, and die prematurely and that dairy producers take into account the animals wellbeing only to the extent that it is economically advantageous to do so. PETA claimed that the Milk Advisory Board was lying about the condition of actual cows at actual California dairies.

All my cows except my ex have been happy!
Should have fined them excessively for filing idiotic lawsuit
The Chik-fil-A cows are next?
They die prematurely compared to what?!? PETA — Posterior-Enhanced Total Assholes.
It did make me laugh out loud, though, thinking back on the houses that I've bought for wimmenz that now hate me.
The infantilistic morons in PETA, with their money and political clout, put me in mind of toddlers with machine guns.
They should be sueing the cows. They’re the ones targeting those poor
These PETA losers should have been forced to pay the legal fees of the California Milk Advisory Board.
I always liked the happy cow adds. That was one of the last ads I have seen since I stopped watching TV
All I know is dairy cattle are lousy producers if they are neglected. Dairy farmers can’t stay in business with poor producers.
If anybody should be suing for those ads, it would be Blue Bell Ice cream. They had the ads of the same claim in the early 80’s
God bless this judge.
They are SILLY ads, they are meant to be silly, they are obviously silly and they are not some kind of report on the condition of dairy cows in California.
Remember the one where cow A tells cow B to ‘hit the snooze’ and the rooster comes flying out of the barn and hits the fence/wall? That one still makes me laugh.
