A "completely naked" motorist led a state trooper on a 3-mile chase along Interstate 69 Thursday morning before being taken into custody in Huntington County, police said.
At about 8:45 a.m., an Indiana State Police trooper found the man naked by his vehicle near mile marker 279, state police spokesman Sgt. Ron Galaviz said. When the trooper approached the man, he allegedly got into his car and fled, leading the officer on a chase that ended near mile 282, Galaviz said.
"This guy didn't appear to have any clothes on," Galaviz said, adding that police "have reason to believe he was on some kind of controlled substance."
Galaviz said he was not sure if someone called police about the man or if the trooper spotted him first. Initial scanner traffic indicated the man was "completely naked." Police took the man to a Huntington County hospital, where he was undergoing a mental evaluation, Galaviz said.
The man may face criminal charges, including resisting law enforcement, but prosecutors would make that decision, Galaviz said.
According to Galaviz, the man was driving a passenger vehicle.

The mile markers are wrong. I grew up about 3 miles from that interstate. The Michigan border is somewhere about mile marker 150 or so.

The 666 mile marker on US 2 in Montana goes missing pretty often, too.

I-69, the most stolen road sign in the continental U.S.(no joke) It USED to be the US666 signs in the southwest until they changed the route number... :-(

If they ever change the designation of I-69, Michigan still has another 2 popularly stolen signs:
Hell, and
Climax .

They have renumbered the markers to accommodate the stretch of I-69 being built south of Indianapolis. To do this, they simply added 200 to the old markers.

Yes, that’s the one, although there is at least one other corridor they are trying to develop (Canamex).
