AUSTIN, Texas Lance Armstrong said Wednesday he is stepping down as chairman of his Livestrong cancer-fighting charity so the group can focus on its mission instead of its founder's problems.
The move came a week after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released a massive report detailing allegations of widespread doping by Armstrong and his teams when he won the Tour de France seven consecutive times from 1999 to 2005. The document's purpose was to show why USADA has banned him from cycling for life and ordered 14 years of his career results erased -- including those Tour titles. It contains sworn statements from 26 witnesses, including 11 former teammates.
Armstrong, who was not paid a salary as chairman of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, will remain on its 15-member board. His duties leading the board will be turned over to vice chairman Jeff Garvey, who was founding chairman in 1997.
"This organization, its mission and its supporters are incredibly dear to my heart," Armstrong said in a statement obtained by The Associated Press. "Today therefore, to spare the foundation any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding my cycling career, I will conclude my chairmanship."

Cool! Maybe those twelve billion yellow wristbandies will become COLLECTOR’S ITEMS! Yathink? :-)
To tell the truth — as a triathlete and an Austin-area resident, I was a huge fan of Lance Armstrong during his heyday.
But — the stronger the love, the stronger the disgust at being duped and betrayed. And I AM disgusted by this sorry asshole and the way he played us all for SO long.
If he cheated...fine.
But has USADA produced actual evidence that he failed a drug test?
The French tested him at every race and he never failed a test.
I don’t consider testimony from jealous cyclists as evidence, I want to see failed test results at actual races.
How much money does it donate to cancer research???
How much money does it donate to cancer victims for them to pay their bills???
What does its money go towards????
Maybe he faked his cancer too! LOL!!
In good nature you’ve bought into Armstrong’s biggest lie. He’s failed tests before. Their is a mountain of evidence against him.
Ok, link me to the tests.
>> Does anybody know just what Livestrong does for cancer?
Dunno, I always thought they were in the wristband business myself. :-)
The poll I saw was 160-10 that he was guilty on the cycling forum I went to. I figured that folks that would bother posting on cycling forums would be following the story closer than those who don’t care about the sport.
Freegards
The French tested Tyler Hamilton and George Hincapie and they passed every test -- and yet they admit to doping and EPO.
Answer me this.
Lance Armstrong has been all over the news the last two weeks. One cannot go to a news site without being innundated with Lance news.
Benghazi??? Maybe a mention or two. Four dead Americans. Caused by the incompetence or the actual policy of this administration. Barely a mention.
Read all the Lance news that you want, but I believe that the MSM is using the story as the beard to block out any mention of the Libya massacre.
Am I crazy?
If you read Hamilton's book you'll be amazed at what was going on.
I like the part where those who testified against Lance all got breaks on their punishment. I have confidence in this.
I’ll read it.
I found something:
IT’S NOT ABOUT THE LAB RATS
If Lance Armstrong went to jail and Livestrong went away, that would be a huge setback in our war against cancer, right? Not exactly, because the famous nonprofit donates almost nothing to scientific research. BILL GIFFORD looks at where the money goes and finds a mix of fine ideas, millions of dollars aimed at awareness, and a few very blurry lines.

Great, post back to me afterward. A few of us my start a discussion chat thread on it.
Interesting. BFL
There is no test results displayed. Only the allegation that another anti doping agency cheated, which they deny.
“USADA has suggested its evidence includes proof that Armstrong had a positive test for EPO in the 2001 Tour de Suisse. This is disputed by the UCI, which denies it covered up test results.”
“But has USADA produced actual evidence that he failed a drug test?
The French tested him at every race and he never failed a test.
I dont consider testimony from jealous cyclists as evidence, I want to see failed test results at actual races.”
This is the only evidence that should be admitted. If you can’t prove he did it then you can’t prove anything. WADA has an agenda if you don’t know these people you haven’t lived...think Olympic committee and friends and the gravy train.
