I used to watch this show when I was very young...this is amazing stuff...great post!

The original version of I've Got a Secret premiered on June 19, 1952 and ran until April 3, 1967. This version began broadcasting in black and white and switched to a color format in 1966

I watched it in the mid 60's when I was a lad.

Gary Moore appeared on the Tonight show with Carson more than a few times too. He was very funny.

Lincoln’s original proposed 13th Amendment popped up a few years ago. Proposed to... Make slavery clearly Constitutional in a final effort to avoid the Civil War.

Lincoln did not propose it. It was call the 'Corwin Amendment'. It was put before Congress before he even became president, and the amendment changed nothing. The Constitution written in 1887 already made slavery legal. It was a last ditch attempt to avoid secession.

Lincoln said he did not oppose it because it changed nothing and that he had no intention to interfere with slavery where it already existed. His only campaign promise was to block and further expansion of slavery into the territories. That promise to block expansion was what drove the Deep South into secession.

Read the real history... it is far more interesting than the internet crap that pops up.

I saw this episode of “I’ve Got a Secret” several years ago when the Game Show Network used to run a block of programming called “Sunday Night in Black and White.” They featured vintage game shows such as “I’ve Got a Secret”, “What’s My Line?”, and “To Tell The Truth.” It’s too bad they discontinued this programming.

Some more material on Lincoln.

Lincoln was the beginning of the end of the Republic. He created the Imperial Presidency. Executive orders ignoring the Constitution? Thank Lincoln for that.

If you do read the history with an open mind, you’ll discover the South was actually right all along.

Shocker, huh?

I was just thinking of my grandparents who were both born in the 1880s.They got to see the most amazing technological changes in history.

When they were young, they traveled to town via oxcart. By the time of their deaths, everyone had TVs, fast automobiles, could ride in near supersonic passenger jets. etc.

This reminds me of hearing about President Tyler who knew some of the founding fathers yet has a grandson alive today or he just recently died, i think.President Tyler had 19 kids and the youngest was born when he was much older... it is amazing how not that long ago some of these things were.Just seems like way back because of all the advances in technology, etc.

“It was strange talking to the son of an American president from the 1880s in in the 1990s”

I believe that Harrison Tyler is still living. His grandfather was John Tyler, 10th President of the United States.

In mid 50s a show called true story sponsored by pall malls had a guy claiming to be Jesse James.

I think about fifteen years ago the family opened Jessie’s grave and a DNA test showed Jesse was already dead as the official story said.

Nice tv tale for young boy

President Tyler still had two living grandsons as of January 2012. Lyon Tyler, Jr and Harrison Tyler.

Mine, too. My grandmother was born the year the Titanic sank, and has lived to see the space shuttle scuttled.
