San Fran weather in early November doesn't even come close to Michigan's.....When do the ski slopes open in San Fran?
Gloating noted. ;)
I've wandered around Ft. Dodge, IA in five below weather for an hour, wearing little more than a dress shirt and slacks. No problem. Try that on San Francisco Bay at 40 degrees and you'd need treatment for hypothermia. The humidity, wind, and salt combine to render clothing effectively ineffective. I lived in a boat on that bay for nine years and froze my butt off every winter no matter what I wore.
Wow, no question about it then, fall and winter in San Fran are definitely worse than Michigan.
What's your favorite target fish for ice fishing? Do you prefer spikes or minnows?
Nice try. I was talking about a baseball game in November.
Go away. Dishonest changes of metrics don't interest me.
LOL! And if you've got time, stop by WalMart and get yourself a sense of humor....they're on sale. Sheesh!
Oh, and sniff my butt.......
35 degrees?
Obviously, you’ve never spent a night (or day) at Candlestick Park, or even AT&T Park.
The Giants win the World Series! (In a few days.)
BTW, not everyone in or around SF is a flaming lib and some of us are hard core conservatives.
SF used to be a conservative city at one time before the hippies came during “The summer of love”
Only four runs given up in their last six games, that’s some darn good pitching.
Sorry, dfwgator - better luck next year as this series is all over but the hootin’ and the hollerin’
Nope - Last time SF went to the WS was in 2010 when they beat the TX Rangers in 5 games and won the World Series.
BTW, it was 49 degrees at game time and 43 at games end.
I’ve spent colder games at AT&T and far colder (and windier, foggier, damp games at Candlestick in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s) so temps weren’t a factor.
I’d say average for a night game in late October/early November for most parks in the US. Pretty much normal anywhere in the lower 48, except Florida and SoCal.
If it’s any consolation to Tigers fans, Obama will be thrown out of office in 10 days. (Actually in January.)
Now that will be something that we can all come together to celebrate!
In 2010, the “experts” said the Giants couldn’t beat Cliff Lee once, let alone twice.
They beat him twice and won the WS in 5 games in 2010.
That’s why they play the games.
Now they are saying the Giants can’t beat Justin Verlander twice.
The Giants have already have beaten him once.
With a 3-0 lead, the Giants beat him in Game 1 and they don’t need to beat him twice, but it would be nice to do so for the sweep.
I’ll be waving a broom tomorrow.
Three years in a row, I’ve had to endure this, between the Rangers and the Tigers....will the American League ever win another WS? Winning the All-Star Game, might help matters.
Hard to believe the Giants started the Post-Season losing their first two at home, and on the brink of elimination. Just goes to show, you never know when a team will suddenly get hot.
But I did have it Giants-Tigers in the WS, when the playoffs started.
Amazing the Giants came back from an 0-2 deficit against the Reds on the road, then came back from a 1-3 deficit against the defending WS Champs, and now lead 3-0 against the team that everyone picked to win the WS after they, the Tigers, dismantled the Yankees 4-0.
The Giants pitching got hot much like they did in Sept/Oct of 2010.
Perhaps even hotter.
Bochy is a hell of a Manager.
Personally, I like the rule that make the All-Star game relevant as many players would get voted in and then would sit out.
This adds some value to the game as the winning team gets home-field advantage in the WS for their division.
They should have done this years ago.
Oh yeah, go Giants!
Better warm up those Hot Tabasco lips, chump. I wouldn't have bothered with this post but for your crappy attitude. For a FReeper who has been here as long as you, you should have learned better by now.
Perhaps but can they pitch in 35 degree fall weather? This IS Michigan you know.....It might reach 70 degrees today but next week it could snow.
The only cold in Detroit was Detroit.
The message is this: You can buy all the hitting and pitching you want, but you just got beat by a TEAM, a group of guys who play for each other and their fans with all their hearts. I don't think I have ever seen such a defense.
Day to day over the whole season, there isn't a much more miserable place to play baseball than San Francisco. Were it not for that ass-freezing wind off the saltwater in Candlestick, Mays would have owned Henry Aaron's home run record. PacBell Park isn't much better. Yet these guys never bitch about it and neither do the fans that fill that place nearly every game.
Tigers, Tigers, fighting bright,
In the ballparks of the night,
Someday the fans will get their fill,
And ship the team to Louisville. - MAD Magazine, 1969
