In Madison, people dining at food carts don't have to eat their veggies, but in the future, they could get the choice.
The city's Vending Oversight Committee, as part of its annual review of food carts, on Wednesday will discuss whether carts must offer vegetarian menu items.

That is good to hear, but Ann Arbor is still a whore. (Just kidding)
Michelle Obamathink strikes Madison food carts.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
I giggle every time I think about the fact that Ann Arbor has concealed and open carry whether they like it or not. LOL
You gotta love that.
I noticed that one of the carts sells vegetarian food. Will that cart have to start selling meat products to meet “consumer demand?”
No NO!
I’d just offer them some lousy rice cakes, or better yet a weinerless Hot Dog!
Mmmm Mmmm... ketchup AND mustard on a bun!
Amen Brother!
French Fries!
Which might be the real objective. This might be a false-flag operation by the neighborhood restaurants to get rid of competition from the carts.
When I was working in the city, besides the hot dog carts we had a felafel cart too.
To be “fair,” the city should force vegetarian restaurants to sell a few meat items.
That’ll fix em!
The Government can make sure everyone gets the same nutritious food.
Confiscate ALL grains, fruits meats, nuts. Blend them and press them into little cakes or crackers. Make it illegal to eat anything other than a government issued food cracker.
This way everyone gets the same nutrition
You can see where I am going.
“OK, stock apples and bananas. That’s vegetarian.”
That would be fruititarian wouldn’t it. Very appropriate at that.
The sad part is, there are vegan food carts there already, or at least there were last I checked.
Stupid. Market based works best.
I work in a restaurant, but never take my kids there- allergies and food offered don’t fit.. I’ve suggested to the owner to include a few things, he said its not cost effective, and I should enjoy going elsewhere. I’d prefer to spend my money where I work, but would never want to FORCE him to carry things.
Similar to smoking ban- he hates having smokers in his bar, but would rather have the choice than a govt mandate.
