Fighting back against liberal media (vanity)
December 26, 2012 | ConservativeInPa

Earlier today I went to the grocery store. Upon entering the store I was faced with a person selling subscriptions to The Patriot News (Harrisburg, PA's local paper).

I was asked if I wanted to get home delivery and I simply laughed and said, "I am not interested in buying that liberal rag. You are lucky that you can print that thing three times a week."

This is a paper that once had two editions per day. It went to single edition some years ago, and beginning Jan. 1, they will print only three days a week. I stopped going to their web site after they endorsed Obama for President.

TOPICS: Local News; Society
KEYWORDS:
I live in an area of PA where conservatives are a majority by a good 10 to 15 percent. The liberals have been getting a little more vocal after the last election, so I am making it a point to exercise my 1st Amendment rights hoping that I will not have to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights.

Good for you. And one more thing you need to do.

Complain - LOUDLY - to the store manager for being solicited and hassled by that pesky pushy newspaper salesman.

Let him know if he wants to subject his customers to that kind of harassment, you will shop elsewhere.

You need to have enough people actually do it and show the manager receipts. Because the store is very likely getting a break on their ad in that paper for allowing it.

Until the costs of one overcome the savings of another consistently (not a one time protest thing that goes away and all shoppers return), nothing changes.

Home delivery is a thing of the past. If it wasn’t delivered to people’s doorsteps (sometimes for free) I wouldn’t think many people would make a DAILY habit of picking up the newspaper anymore.

The news is 16-52 hours old when it hits your doorstep. In an age when even the newspapers put their content online 16-24 hours before the next edition comes out, who wants to read “old” (and outdated) news “information”?

The milkman no longer makes home deliveries and doctors don’t even make routine house calls.

Groupon and marketing mail have replaced the coupon cutting. Craigslist and ebay have replaced the for-sale ads. Simply Hired/Monster/Dice/CareerBuilder/Craigslist et al have replaced the Help Wanted ads. So much for the ad revenue.

Add to this a boycott by those on the right who are tired of their newspapers/news magazines/and news broadcasts manipulating evidence, redacting quotes, and otherwise deliberately manufacturing and modifying news as determined by those on Journolist and in coordinated discussions with members of the Democrat Party.

So long. No bailouts, pinkos.

Home delivery is a thing of the past.

That is true and it is a shame. I would still enjoy sitting at the breakfast table, drinking coffee and reading the sports section written by local sports writers. The Patriot News was even able to get that right - the local sports writers are not originally from the area.
