DETROIT (AP) — Spoiler alert: This story contains words and phrases that some people want to ban from the English language. "Spoiler alert" is among them. So are "kick the can down the road," ''trending" and "bucket list."

"Spoiler alert," the seemingly thoughtful way to warn readers or viewers about looming references to a key plot point in a film or TV show, nevertheless passed its use-by date for many, including Joseph Foly, of Fremont, Calif. He argued in his submission the phrase is "used as an obnoxious way to show one has trivial information and is about to use it, no matter what."

1. Silo (Who cares what silo you work in?).
2. Low-hanging fruit
3. "It is what it is." (WTH?)
4. "Back in the day..." (What day? When? How far back?)
5. "At the end of the day..."
6. Irregardless (Can't believe people still use this).
7. "I could care less." (Timeless entry to my HIT list).
8. Baby bump (new phrase used for attention whores who want the world to know they are pregnant).
9. Air quotes (not a phrase.....just an over-used habit that is annoying).

BTT. At the end of the day these totally awesome words are only cliches to be avoided like the plague. So I’m like, “Dude, what did you vote for 0bama for?” and he’s like, “I wanna stick it to The Man” and I’m like “Dude, he is The Man,” and he’s like,”oh wow sorry dude I thot he was the shizzle” and I’m like, “Whatever.” You know what I’m sayin’?

Ugh, flashback.....my ex always used that word to label files....”bank stuff”, “tax stuff”, “student loan stuff”....
