Young men giving up on marriage: ‘Women aren’t women anymore’
Life Site News ^ | 1-10-13 | Hilary White

Fewer young men in the US want to get married than ever, while the desire for marriage is rising among young women, according to the Pew Research Center.

Pew recently found that the number of women 18-34 saying that having a successful marriage is one of the most important things rose from 28 percent to 37 percent since 1997. The number of young adult men saying the same thing dropped from 35 percent to 29 percent in the same time.

Pew’s findings have caught the attention of one US writer who maintains that feminism, deeply entrenched in every segment of the culture, has created an environment in which young men find it more beneficial to simply opt out of couple-dom entirely.

Suzanne Venker’s article, “The War on Men,” which appeared on the website of Fox News in late November, has become a lodestone for feminist writers who have attacked her position that the institution of marriage is threatened, not enhanced, by the supposed gains of the feminist movement over the last 50 years.

“Where have all the good (meaning marriageable) men gone?” is a question much talked about lately in the secular media, Venker says, but her answer, backed up by statistics, is not to the liking of mainstream commentators influenced by feminism.

She points out that for the first time in US history, the number of women in the workforce has surpassed the number of men, while more women than men are acquiring university degrees.

“The problem? This new phenomenon has changed the dance between men and women,” Venker wrote. With feminism pushing them out of their traditional role of breadwinner, protector and provider – and divorce laws increasingly creating a dangerously precarious financial prospect for the men cut loose from marriage – men are simply no longer finding

“I had a single mother-—she was widowed at 31-—never on welfare and worked like a dog to raise the two of us. Don’t generalize.”

Then bless that woman. And nobody sane would put her in the category of women who crank out a few babies out of wedlock irresponsibly.
I think the research even bears this out. A single mom by choice is one thing, A single mom by forced circumstance is a very different thing. The difference being that the deceased father is “there” in spirit, if not physically.

The study i saw involved kids raised by the numerous single moms created by WWII. The fathers photo was there, and he was still loved, and the kids know he wishes he was there.
The study basically decided that such single motherhood created good kids.
It’s nothing like what people are referring to here in the modern era. And im sure everyone here respects your mom carrying that load out of necessity she didnt choose.

Interesting post, as tough as it was, it doesn’t strike me as man bashing, just bashing that weirdo that you married.

I’m a guy and have seen guys like that one, I hope you find some guy, and I hope that you are exposed to the blue collar world, because mixed in with the common joes and bad guys among those who work with their hands, are a few gems, a good mixture of manliness, intelligence, decency, self knowledge, worship of womanhood and so on.

My cousin went to the Philippines to find his wife.

If it has been a few years, then I can guess who is now the boss in that relationship.

Well, there was no other channel worth changing too.

Music stations are even worse than Dr. Lala, and Rush came on after her which is what I was waiting for.

I can still remember it so clearly too...Hello, welcome to the program...arrrrrgggghhhh!

Needless to say, I did not care for Dr. Laura.

Also, I have never, ever, heard a man express a desire to have a meek subservient wife. Any sane person would find that rather annoying.

I'm going to disagree with meek; 'meekness' was the only attribute that Jesus ascribed to himself. (Meek /= Week)

Life ends when there is no optimism. She might be out there, don't give up until you find her.

Please refer us to the post where someone expressed any desire to be “a master” over their wife. For bonus points, find us the one you admit you made up, where anyone here said a wife needs to “know her place”. That was never said by anyone. Yet you accused the posters of probably saying it.

There is always so much tripe like this around. Where people hysterically tell us that men want to dominate, abuse, lord over, and be the totalitarian master of their wife.

All anyone here wants is someone that will treat them with the slightest respect. That is always twisted as wanting to be some sort of domestic dictator. Oddm when mostly, the truth is the opposite. For every married woman who dreads going home, i hear about 10 men express the same feeling.

Another comment I’d like to ad to yours (which was excellent by the way) is that women in general are no longer mysterious. Many feel that they have to share everything and “show” everything.

I’m a woman so I can say these things :)

Pondering your comment. Interesting, hadn’t thought of that, sounds close to the mark. The mystery has indeed vanished. I had a fleeting thought about that when some of our female Olympians in London were completely open about how much random sex they were having in the Olympic Village.
Saw one interview where one female discussed her sexual behavior like she was discussing the menu at the cafeteria.
All i could think of was how her family was probably watching.
You’re on to something.

Please refer us to the post where someone expressed any desire to be “a master” over their wife.

Please refer to this post:

My wife shall be my total servant, and shall serve me at my pleasure. I shall rule over her every waking moment, as a master oversees an abject slave. She shall be branded as my cattle, and she shall wear a shock collar, that I can cruelly 'correct' her behavior with. She shall wear a hood at all times she is not directly serving my needs, and a ball-gag at all times no matter what -- except when she needs to directly service me. She shall be kept in a small cage in the basement when not in use, and fed only scraps of lettuce, so that she keeps her figure.

Now shaddup and make me a sammich.

That's why it's good to have two bathrooms.

Plus being able to use the oven as a heat treat device.

Xenoestrogens in everything from shampoo to processed food is the culprit.

Grandpa taught soy beans were an exceptional cattle feed as it lays on the soft (tasty) fat on a beef. Also good for laying hens, but no ‘man’ should eat them.

That has got to be one of the most accurate statements ever. Give me an excuse or someone to blame.

If I had not promised to take care of the one I have now I wouldn’t have her and I don’t want another one.

Women should come with a truth in advertIsing label and a return guarantee. What I married ain’t a thing like I got after just a few years and dang sure not what I got now.

A woman who wanted to be taken care of and appreciate it must be impossible to find. If they would just read and understand Proverbs 31 they could have their man in the palm of their hand.

A dog is hard to beat as a faithful companion.

Wymyns are still to be investigated though.

Married or not.....and i am to just one fine chick many years

I got to have a warm nubile woman to share my bed.....everything else in life is a distant second place to punani and all that physical and granted some emotional warmth too

Sure women are pretty wacky today but you gotta show them what they need

They may not even know it yet

God bless southern girls

Feminism or not ...life without a woman is barely worth having

I lived in a womanless environment....it was brutal

I cant imagine doing it voluntarily
