Step One if you get pulled over and have a firearm in the vehicle — Inform the officer, permit or not. In NC it is state law. Don’t know about other states, but it is polite nonetheless, and avoids any misunderstanding.

I don’t get pulled over often, but the last time I did, by a NC State Trooper, I put my hands out the window as he approached the vehicle and said, “Officer, I have a firearm in the vehicle.” It was being legally carried in plain sight on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

We spent the next 10 minutes talking about firearms, shooting the breeze. Nice guy. No ticket.

The guys lucky. If he’d been a dog the cop would have shot him.

Take the guns away from the dumb-ass, power tripping cops and leave the legally carrying citizens alone.
Life would be much better.

cause of buttheads like this one and his breathren who go around killing innocent dogs
Oh yeah, and you can throw in the cops, “code of silence”, that says one does not speak badly of my fellow cops even if they are real bed.
Bad wrap?
Most cops are great public servants.
Then there are the ones that speed past you on their priveledged way to get the fresh donuts.

It does look like a classic “’Roid Rage” incident.

The ‘Rest of the story’ is the Prosecutor threw out all charges.

The cop did not have enough professionalism/control to be a cop. Threatening to shoot the guy in his “effin” back was the giveaway.

I occasionally see individuals carrying concealed (not very well concealed if I was able to see them) but I’ve never seen one openly carried.

Ga currently has a bill waiting to be brought to the floor for a vote to just go to constitutional carry. I am hoping that goes through soon. I think its still tied up in committeee.

Somehow...”I'll shoot you in the fu@king back” doesn't seem the right response

That had my blood boiling immediately.

There are two kinds of cop.

I agree, but it seems the bad are out weighing the good.

They no longer serve the public, they serve their unions.

There’s no way LEOs and military can become a repository of virtue under those conditions.

Excellent summation and right on the money.

There is not an institution left in this Country that demands the respect it once did because of the reasons you outlined.

If I was conspiracy minded I would say it was all by design...

Gang mentality.

Sad but true. IMHO They deal with so much trash, that some forgot about the good citizen, and start to treat all contempably.

That’s the excuse that the thug cops always give. I don’t buy it and here’s why: for almost every criminal the cops deal with, there is a victim. Are they trash too? Also, cops deal with accidents and spend a lot of time handing out speeding tickets. Is a citizen trash for exceeding the speed limit?

You were correct in the first line of your post. It is gang mentality. If a person isn’t wearing the cop’s “colors”, they are not even human to the cop. That’s one of the things that allows a good family man to put on the uniform of any totatlitarian regime and then to go out and commit atrocities and come home to read to his children at night with a clean conscience. Because in his mind, everyone he abused during the day was trash.

Couldn't agree more. The thug cops I've dealt with seem to always have an emotional issue and their motivation for being a cop was to have power over others (without consequences to themselves).

That being said. I've trained and worked with hundreds over my career and one of my best friends is a cop (San Diego PD). His complaints mirror yours, but from my experience, I believe the majority are good men and women. I have dealt with rookies that were definitely in it for the power trip. Worst thing in the world is a 21 year old with a badge, gun, and chip on his shoulder.

Personally I'd make all rookies go two years on the job without wearing a sidearm (although there'd be an AR in the trunk minimum for an active shooter scenario). Don't know how it would fly but it would be interesting to see the results. Don't know if it's still the situation, but LAPD made officers go "one up" because two officers tended to escalate situations while a single officer would be more cautious and call for back-up if needed.

That's my two cents and I respect your viewpoint. I guess I feel a little defensive for law enforcement sometimes because like in all professions, one asshole can really make tough for the good guys.

Neah. Good cops far out weigh bad cops.

But their “gang rules” make them hard to separate out. They have to tolerate bad cops, keep quiet about their abuses, and even lie for ‘em. It is actually a matter of self-preservation. The penalties for breaking their code of silence are pretty stringent...

But it makes it hard to tell them apart.
