Film fans, do not miss tonight's movie. A masculine story of a proud, American industrialist. There are some amazing quotes in this film. One in particular is where the main character chastises his wife for claiming European countries are more advanced- by stating that clean schools and borders free from soldiers are more important. And there are others. It's probably my favorite film of all time and gives a rare glimpse into the once great culture of America. Walter Huston is amazing as is the entire cast. Thinking of this film gets me a little emotional. Enjoy.

Don’t think that is the entire movie. Anyway, I recommend you rent it and watch it in one sitting...it’s that good.

This is a rather small group at this point. You can feel free to add your friends. If you are a member of Facebook and want to join cinema discussion free from attacks from people who never go to the movie but want to tell you what to do, then join us. I just started it yesterday & Many of the members I added are movie going Freepers .. and even a few of the banned ones, like Altura, who is a movie fan.
I know some have hesitations with Facebook. I have been a member for MANY years and found no issues by using common sense. I have my settings at private. No one can see "my stuff" unless they are my friend. I do NOT do the games or APS on the site (like birthday reminder, Farmville etc); I do NOT add people I don't know or don't have anything in common with. I have added many folks who share my photography, cinema, animal, natural healing ideas. Not had a bad experience once. Don't open questionable links. That is common sense for here, Email as well as FB. I do most of my political posting at the political groups. FR has a group that is fairly busy & there is another rogue group that is good also. You can use your main wall for other things.
Just wanted to give this little speel now rather than wait for those who ask. I know it is NOT for everyone and with time limitations we must make choices where to spend the precious minutes each day on line
I am just interested in having a place to discuss movies w/o harassment. --

They have the entire movie, that’s just “A”, part one. After you watch it look underneath in the Recommendeds and you’ll see “B”, click on it to continue, and so forth.

Recently I was reading a book on Choosing Your People. A book about how to pick the people to hang out with more or less. In the book it said to look at what “turns a certain person on” and that is how to judge a potential pal.
The scene where Dodsworth is planning his trip to Siberia and trying a Moscow to Seattle airline was a perfect example of a man turned on by ideas. A man creating and planning for the future is someone I want to hang out with.
I may not have watched it had it not been for your tip.
If you are in OKC maybe you can sneak down to the POTEET THEATRE and see the wall paintings my niece and I did for THE SOUND OF MUSIC. They will be covered over after the last performance.
I will post them after the play begins it’s run, when my niece sends me her photos.
That is wonderful that Russell's benefactor insisted that he keep his Oscar until he died... I didn't know that.

Oh dear, I should have mentioned my FIL as well (actually step-father-in-law). He was in an Army supply unit that followed the D-Day invasions in France. My father saw a lot of action as an Army Sargeant in the Pacific Theater... Mom was was a Navy WAVE.
But I never saw the movie until the 1970s - years after I came back from Vietnam - and I marveled at how much of it was still relevant.
Thank YOU for your service! I didn't see "Best Years" until just a few years ago. Luckily I was able to see this movie - and discuss it - with my Mom just before she passed...

It is only on careful examination that I realized for YEARS I have had the wrong name for you in my head.. I had BaYb as BaRb.. biker barb.. not biker babe.. that is very clever but only if your reader is smart enough to notice!

Oh, DollyCali, your movie pings were always so much fun. It was a bright spot amongst all the depressing news of the day. Are you sure you won’t change your mind? I don’t use Facebook, even though I am registered there. I guess I might have to change my ways. ; )
