Yes, I will be watching. I am a big girl who can read the Bible for myself and I can decide what to think about the series. Unfortunately, we have too many who want to dictate to others concerning the interpretation of the Scriptures..It is high time someone produced something based on Christianity because the persecution of our religion is increasing. The left produces movies all the time to get a message out there and it works. These producers seem to be well known and were interviewed by O’Reilly a couple of nights ago. They were very interesting. I am looking forward to viewing this series and I am hopeful it will be a success.

By the way, anyone remember when it airs? Is it on Sunday, or is it today?

...”Conservatives have long sought less slime and more decency from Hollywood. Why on earth wouldn’t all conservatives support and celebrate this series?”...

Doesn’t make sense that any conservative would criticize this series even before it comes out. One has to wonder whether they are only playing like they are conservative.

...”History’s bible coverage is always done by fanatically anti-Christian freaks. What should be a great cable network (educational, interesting, evergreen) is instead just about the worst (deceitfully propagandistic, miseducational, laughable, tired)”...

Could it possibly be that the prayers which have gone up from our faith for many years are beginning to pay off? Regardless of your opinion of the history channel, it has credentials and is the best place to air this series. Where else would you choose to show it if you want a large audience and good PR beforehand?

according to a review in "Christian Post" found on real clear religion, Roma Downey and her husband Mark Brunett have done a very good job on the telling of a complex book in a short series of programs.

here is the web address

Starts this Sunday, 7 PM CST.

I’m recording it, because if nothing else - I can preview it and know what to tell my coworkers/friends where it’s wrong, and where it’s right. Roma Downey is a believer and has been for a long time. Mark Burnett I believe is a newer believer, but a very powerful person in the Hollywood machine.

While I also prefer the Textus Receptus, the differences in the other versions are mostly, very minor and we are not 100% sure which best mirror the original autographs.

Unless they are doing a word for word reading of the Bible, any adaptation of it to a film or TV series is inherently going to have more differences from any common version of the Bible, than those Bible versions have from each other.

How true the writers, producers, directors seek to stick to the orignal stories in whatever version (assuming it is a mainstream one KJV, NKJV, NIV, NASB, etc. as opposed to “The Message” or some totally distorted version)of the Bible they use, will have a FAR greater impact on the accuracy or inaccuracy of the program.

I plan to give it a chance. I saw the producers interviewed at length recently. They plan on having very good special effects and, apparently, there was a team of 40 theologians on the project.

And I caught the tail end of a Focus on The Family radio interview with them today.

I think it will be a quality series.

Mark Styen interviewed them both on Bill Bennett this morning and it sounded good, Glenn Beck was talking it up the other day.

I will give it a look see.

Funny, I think I’d have more problem watching the Gospels as I am not too comfortable with mortal men portraying Our Lord Jesus Christ, who is God in flesh.

I think the OT lends itself to a more creative license as often (but not always) the meaning and message of the stories is more important than the precise words. The NT contains a lot more direct instructions to believers, so IMO, the exact words or more important.

Here is a review done by Creation Ministries, Inc.... they have a very favorable opinion of it.

That’s pretty amazing considering what the History Channel does to anything else biblical.
