I expected to see a Lazamataz byline on that.
Kudos!
I’ve never noticed Mexican parents disciplining their children, managing their behavior, spanking them and CERTAINLY never noticed them behaving,
That look in my dad's eyes, fixated on me as he unbuckles his belt...
Because of him I have always stayed on the right side of the law.
The mexican children may be well behaved in Mexico. But, they don’t keep that behavior when they cross the border into the USA.
Like others have said, go into any store down here near the border and watch them. Screaming, hollering, crying and a general rampage is the norm. The store clerks are told not to say anything to them and yet are expected to clean up the on going mess during their shifts.
My Walmart store is a disgrace. I particularly like the parking lot that is covered by soiled, disposable diapers and trash as far as the eye can see.
LOL ... My mom called it the cucciara!!!
It’s not limited to stores down near the boarder.
...or the border either...
yes—the secret of la chancla has not been much of a secret for a long time now... the thing is, i am not so sure that many use the chancla today.. :)
That’s what a very nice Latino hairdresser told me a year ago: ‘we got spanked, and we do that to our daughter. We have no intention of raising, and will not tolerate, a mis-behaved child.’
As in every culture, there is responsible, and not responsible.
PS
Forgot to add:
Some years ago I began noticing well behaved Latino kids in restaurants, and mentioned it to our family when I did. Sometimes as I was leaving, I mentioned it quietly to a female member of the Mexican family, and they were always glowing with pride.
And one thinks one can shop at night without them running around. But NOOO - the kids are up and squalling.
Whatever happened to a reasonable bed-time?? ~ Sigh ~
ESPECIALLY on a school night???!
Down here in South Texas most of the children are feral animals who are clueless about manners or any social graces.
We can thank the welfare system for that.
I always see Mexican children at Wal-Mart, and they're generally running and yelling. You must have a better class of illegal aliens than me.
And African families. I used to work with quite a few African immigrants and it was impossible to avoid noticing how sweet, obedient, and hard-working the children were from an early age. I commented on this and one of the ladies said, “Oh, yeah, we’re African. We spank our kids.” She hit her palm lightly with the other fist a couple of times and the other parents all laughed approvingly.
Someone else added, “You Americans, you don’t hit your kids, this why you have troubles.”
I protested, “I spanked my kids.”
They answered, “Ya, you hit your kids, this why your kids are so good now, why you proud of them. We hit too, this why our kids, they work hard, they not in trouble, they stay in school or they grown up, have good jobs.”
dont assume they’re “mexican” unless you go up straight to the parents and ask.
