That was partially why I asked...that has been my experience. But like many people, I can be susceptible to marketing on occasion, if it hits me right. I guess.

But I won’t buy anything else, and I realized...I have never asked anyone else about what batteries they prefer, if they prefer any at all.

I was evaluating and using batteries in kind of a vacuum. When I realized how strongly I felt about something as seemingly minor as batteries, it made me curious to wonder if anyone else had strong opinions as well.

Is Barack Obama actually a better President, or is it marketing? :)

I have some of those. I also got the black Sanyos, which are rated higher than these. I love them. I always found ever readys would die before dura cells and these were just as good...but for longer.

I use a lot of both, and will buy either depending on what is on sale. I would say they are equal. However I find that the Eveready batteries leak like crazy and need to be checked every couple of weeks for swelling or removed completely. I never had a Duracell leak, but I suppose it is possible.

I meant Energizer brand - not Eveready.

Duracell is a superior battery. I use an after market wireless turbo Xbox controller. There is a world of difference between the two in performance. My husband didnt believe me so he switched the batteries and made me guess which ones were the duracells and I knew immediately.

LOL...no, I was just having a little fun. Hahahahaha...talk about being damned with faint praise, being compared to a pollster! (only kidding!)

I don't start threads very often, and when I looked, it seemed to me a fairly low thread to reply ratio:

"You've posted a total of 91 threads and 33,853 replies"

I don't know how that compares to anyone else, but it seemed low. And last week another Freeper started what I thought was a great thread about The Most Overrated Historic FIgures (Not to include US Presidents)

It was an offbeat thread, but a lot of fun, and I realized Freeping has been less enjoyable for a while now. I am reading too many of blam's threads (with my apologies to blam!) and I just needed something lighter.

We switched from Duracell to Kirkland (Costco brand) and have been very satisfied.

Many years ago, I worked for Radio Shack. I installed Radio Shack batteries and coppertop batteries into identical shortwave radios. I set the radios to the same fm station and left them on continuously. The Radio Shack batteries lasted 2 days longer than the coppertops.

They ran for 13 days straight.

I had run out of batteries recently, and used some Evereadys in a wireless mouse (a rather expensive one)

They leaked all over it, and I didn’t think it would work again, but I disassembled it and took a dremel to the insides and got it to work.

But heck, those Duracells were probably old to begin with, so I tried to give em the benefit of the doubt.

Duracell...Years ago one of their plants asked me to do a bit of consulting work for them. Wasn't a big job but I always support my customers simply out of principle. When Eveready has me do some consulting work for them, I'll split my allegiance.

LOL, I have always thought the Radio Shack ones were one of the poorer brands, but I don’t think I ever gave em a fair shake.

However, like my battery leaking experience described above, your Duracells may have been old.

I have a couple of dozen NiMh rechargeables, seldom use anything else. I keep the batteries separated by purchase date and just phase in new ones as the old ones wear out. I monitor them after charging with a tester so I know when they are about used up.

I don’t know how old they were. I bought them from Walgreens next door to the Radio Shack just to see If the claims from RS were true.

In my experiment, they were.

I’ve given up one “copper tops” too many leaks and short lives. EverReady are the best IMO. (I sell flashlights.)

Since you sell flashlights, you know that people who are serious about flashlights (and all electronics) quit using alkaline batteries entirely, because they leak and destroy everything.

Ah, Robert Conrad, those were the days. I also dig the big calculator too. B-)

BTW, I remember him always being the captain of the NBC team in the "Battle of the Network Stars."

I had a friend who did a battery test comparison for his son’s school science project. He found that the Radio Shack batteries lasted the longest.

As a mechanic that worked the night shift, the copper tops were far superior in keeping my flashlight bright.
