This. Looks. Spectacular! Glad they chose Harrison Ford for this role. If they stayed true to the book at all it will fit him well.

I’ve read and enjoyed almost all the books in the series. I’m really looking forward to the movie.

Cool enough. The Maori face tattoos for Sir Ben (Mazer Rakham - half Maori Kiwi) was an interesting touch. Hope they don’t lose the darker edges of the novel and make the film kid friendly (PG-13). But am not optimistic on that score.

The very brief film clip gives it away. The same booming woofers; the same CGI; the same under-drawn characters. Just what makes this film different from the 25 or 30 scifi noisefests that have come before?

Isn’t the movie Storm Troopers based on one of the Ender series?

Oh. Yeah! In fact, there was one in the works but it all fell apart nearly ten years ago before they could get to filming anything. It may happen one day but not for a long time.

I dunno if we have the technology for that. Plus I dunno if they’d include the sex scenes or not. Personally, I didn’t care for them in the book. But I too would love to see a Ringworld movie. Definitely be interesting to see what a Puppeteer looks like.

I don’t know about a movie named “Storm Troopers.” “Starship Troopers” was based on the Robert A. Heinlein novel of the same name.

that’s probaby it but didn’t Ender also battle an alien Bug Queen in an early book? Been a while since I read them.

I still enjoy both... you know there’s sequels to the movie, right?
One of these days I hope to get a hold of my brother-in-law and watch `em all. :)

Let’s not get me started on what an abortion that movie is. The director supposedly bragged he’d never read the book.

I'm guessing that the producers chose older children to fill the roles as they are aiming to film sequels as soon as possible, likely following the Shadows chronology, instead of going on with the original trilogy.

It would be much easier to film those movies than moving on with Speaker and Xenocide. Not to mention that it would make more of a connection with audiences.

But why did they have to take the set designs from Starship Troopers and join it with costume design by Hunger Games? I mean, I get the technical challenges that would be involved with white sets, but all that steel work in the sets and heavy fabric costumes departs significantly from all the existing technology from space exploration up to this point.

Ahh well, I'll go see the movie, get disappointed by aspects of it, and dread the follow on earth wars which will probably be significantly changed to avoid offending anyone. It is so hard to get excited about anything Hollywood produces anymore.

Love the book. I have the audio version. The narrator, Stephan Rudnicki, does a fantastic job. I hope they don’t ruin it.
