Notice the name of the town? They had a big court case a few years ago about the cross on city seal which was on the town water tower. Founded by a very religious sect, and I am sure they were aligned with Carrie Nation

Heavy church influence in Zion, IL.

Some of these older utopian-type churches seem rigid and joyless.

Frankly, I don't see much difference between the two.

But! She is exactly correct. Personally, I don’t care if people smoke. I just do not to smell it anymore and I don’t want to pay for their cancer, cardiac, etc healthcare. Once we are okay with the government paying for our healthcare, then we are going to have them telling us how to live.

And I don’t want to pay for drinker’s and drug user’s liver problems, or gay’s aids problems.

Once we are okay with the government paying for our healthcare, then we are going to have them telling us how to live.

The government was telling us how to live long before you were okay with the government paying for your healthcare.

<....”I don’t care if people smoke..... I don’t want to pay for their cancer, cardiac, etc healthcare”....>

Are you going to also say this also about fat people... for their health issues have far surpassed smokers now....

...additionally recent article says “sitters”, who do nothing but use technology all day, have “replaced” smokers in health care issues.

..and what about those who are STD infected for their lifestyle choices to engage in sex at will?

The list goes on and on....but the old story of laying blame on smokers has long been replaced by other practices draining the health care system.

...”The smoking wars are over. Smokers lost”...

Now it’s the lard butts who they’ll soon be going after....who have far surpassed the smokers in taxing the healthcare system.

It’s be their “Turn” do deal with it”.

Latest nannie target: people who spend too much time at their computers. Not about carpal tunnel or eyestrain, it’s the sitting that’s bad for you. Their slogan:

“Sitting is the new smoking”

I lived in Zion, IL the first year I was married. Zion was known as the home of the “blue” laws, as well as the home of a sect called the “Christian Catholic Church” (no relation to the Roman Catholic Church).

Everything commercial was closed on Sundays. No alcohol or tobacco was sold within the city limits. All of the streets had Biblical names. I lived on Ezekial Ave., and the train station was on Bethlehem Road.

It was a pretty little town at the time, however.

Don’t waste your time with this one. Every time he/she cheers for the “wins” of his anti-smoker cartel he/she is actually cheering the drowning of freedom. Why h/she continues to post on this site is beyond me. Anyone who supports over reaching government really doesn’t belong here.

He/she has no comprehension that the cheering of stripping rights for some is encouraging the stripping of rights for all.

I stood behind a man at the pharmacy earlier today. He had a foul smell that was noticeable 6 feet away. What was he buying? Cigarettes.
