With the last month, a Petside reader wrote in and was disappointed that I did not mention more feline ambassadors at hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, and inns in a recently published post. So, I went on a fact-finding mission to recognize some of the best cat mascots in the country who work in the hospitality industry. Click through to see some of the more famed felines you might come across in your travels!

When I have visitors at my house, I had to bribe my two with treats in order not to have my guests attacked.

If I had money, that would be tempting. Heck, turn it into documentary: “Looking for Ceiling Cat.”

I've had Squeek for about 8 years now and next weekend I'm going away for the weekend for the first time since I've had her. I'm going to have my neighbors come over and feed her but it's unlikely they'll ever see her since she's afraid of people.
So Sally or Jerry show up to fill the bowl and return the next day to see the bowl empty..but no cat. LOL!.......must be a ghost.

I doubt Matilda the cat is amongst us anymore, as she would be 18 plus years old now. My guess is there is now a Matilda clone ruling the hallways of the Hotel.

Almost every flying club I’ve ever been in has a big sleepy tomcat hanging around dozing in a sunbeam atop a stack of neglected paperwork. They always seem to be named ‘Charlie’, for ‘Charlie Alpha Tango’.

Cats have been at the hotel since 1930. Males are called Hamlet and females Matilda.
The first cat was a stray who wandered in and stayed,
That was Hamlet mark one. Since then all the other felines have been adopted as kittens from one of NYC’s shelters.
the current Matilda is only allowed in the lobby. shame. I bet it was neat to see a cat at the round table on Dorothy Parker or Robert Benchley’s lap.
Meeting Matilda is on my bucket list.
